to think this was an odd thing of teacher to ask kids

During circle time kids were asked if their parents ever said/did anything innappropriate. Dd said that one girl said her parents swore so she put her hand up and said we swore. ( just to clarify we don't swear at her or regularly just if there's an accident or stubbed toe that sort of thing). I asked what other kids said and she said couldn't remember.
Aibu to think its a rather odd question and perhaps a leading question to ask 8 year old kids who like my dd will copy what their mates say!

Oh, and it's not a question I would ever ask with a big group of kids - could open up a massive can of worms. If there are suspicions/disclosures then teacher would go to HT and it would be dealt with that way. If you wanted to talk about inappropriate behaviour with LOs you would talk about things like, what do our mummies/daddies/grandparents/teachers/dentists blah blah blah do that help us, why is it important that they do these, and follow it up with how to tell someone if you're ever worried - e.g. talk to the teacher/a teacher they're comfortable with/a parent/relative etc etc.

Just read more of the posts - agree that maybe it was to do with "we all make mistakes" - just seems a really odd way to word it!

If your DD's school follows the SEAL programme then at the moment they would be doing 'Getting On and Falling Out' which discusses feelings of hurt and anger so perhaps it came about through that?

Agree that it is definitely all about context and that circle time can go anywhere. I did a circle time at the end of a school year when I was 8 months pregnant and we were talking about what we were looking forward to/worried about the next year. Somehow they managed to steer the discussion onto whether I was planning on breastfeeding my baby!
