AIBU to think that if you are my MIL and you are staying at my house throughout the Christmas period, and incidentally doing nothing to help in anyway, and you insist on having all the DCs christmas presents delivered here direct from tatforsale.co.uk rather than bringing them down your self in the car then you should have the decency to pay the extra couple of quid for gift wrapping that the website offers so I DON'T have to wrap all your gifts up as well the ones I have bought..... And breathe....

Do have to be in a BAD MOOD to agree with me Vivi ? Wink

FGS I would just wrap them.
It's really not a drama. They are presents for your children after all. How long will it take. 15 mins?

SnapesMistressofMerriment · 06/12/2011 15:55

It depends, I wrap all my Granny's gifts for her as there is no way she could manage with her arthritus. The only thing that does annoy meis when she tells me to get a card for her and she gets one anyway so Ithen have to explain to someone why I am giving them two cards. (I should be smarter and buy generic birthday cards rather than specific e.g. 40th birthday ones)

Had to post as have just experienced similar, but from my own mother! She suggested a suitable present for DD then said, "so you'll get it then?" We're actually going to her for Christmas so makes no sense at all and is actually quite hurtful that she clearly just can't be bothered...

OhThisIsJustGrape · 06/12/2011 15:58

Oh I feel for you. I have to buy (and often wrap) all MILsnand
My dad's presents to my 4 DCs and it drives me insane.

On the plus side, the children always end upnwiyh something they want/need so it works both ways I guess but it massively adds to the amount of shopping I need to do!

Not necessarily valium, but on this occasion, yes seems so.

MabelOranje · 06/12/2011 16:23

How many presents has MIL ordered for your kids?

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 06/12/2011 16:31

If she has arthritis or something and wrapping is awkward and painful for her, then you are of course BU, but if she's fine then just give her the wrapping paper and go and make yourself a coffee.

What you don't do, is sigh, do it yourself and then moan about it. Because it's your choice.

I'm not saying that to be mean, but I find that if you accept that something is your choice, you tend to feel better about it.

CrotchFlakes · 06/12/2011 16:50

My inlaws are the sort of people who hand out presents in unnamed plastic bags therefore I have been known to wrap and label things on their behalf. But - my choice
