AIBU to complain about my christmas tree?

I know, I know it's not the biggest issue in the universe but I feel a bit peeved.

Every year I order a real tree from a particular company, it is quite expensive and it's my own main christmas luxury that I plan/budget for carefully.

Every year the tree's have been really lovely, bushy, lush, nicely shaped.

This year I ordered the same size/type tree that I always get. It arrived the other day and it's very disappointing. It just looks shit. It's too big for the stand we have for the alleged size/type of tree that it is, so it leans. It's sparse and even when dressed it looks rubbish!

Would it be grinchy of me to complain? I feel like I've been stiffed TBH.

ps. Yes, I understand it's a non problem in the great scheme of things and I am very fortunate not to have anything else to moan about Xmas Grin

pps. Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

LOL @ the Margo thing ... my DD1 is off school sick and she raised her head from the sofa to laugh at that one!!!

On reflection, I can't believe what a precious muppet I have been, but seriously it was harshing my christmas vibe man.

Also, my diamond shoes are a bit tight, should I send those back too?! Xmas Wink

Mary, we used to go out and pick a tree but various farms/outlets near us shut down so a few years ago I looked online. It is my ambition one day to go out and chop down my own tree...my sisters canadian boyfriend does that (when back home in canada)

I really am chevy chase in national lampoons christmas vacation, I get so fixated on having THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER that I go totally nuts!

DS is working at a Christmas Tree Barn for three weekends on the trot. He says it's funny, every family consists of a woman who insists on ds bringing out up to twenty trees for inspection while the man looks glazed. DS whispered to one of the men the other day, "they're all the same!" and the guy agreed but the women still love to take their time over it.

He says there's a little tattered one at the back of the barn which he's going to bring home because it's bent at the top and nobody loves it. It needs a loving home Smile

Best real tree I ever had was found, abandoned amongst the rubbish, after the market stall had packed up. My then boyfriend and I rescued it and took it back to his flat. It had several broken branches on one side ... which meant that it fitted perfectly in the corner of his tiny room. Xmas Grin

Glad you have a nice tree now!
I miss real trees - here in Australia the trees are mostly wrong, or exCEEDingly expensive (think I saw some 3' ones last year for AU$100, or £65 Xmas Shock!) I do have a proper real one, it's about 18" high and in about 10 years it might be worth decorating - that was all I could afford. Otherwise we get people who chop the tops of fir trees at the side of the road and sell them at corners - but the needles are all wrong and the branches are too bendy to hang decorations on properly.

So now I have an 8' artificial tree. Which does look very good but still Xmas Sad

When I was in the UK, I used to go to the local place and buy a potted tree - I even managed to keep one going until the following Christmas! But that was because I'd dug it up myself and made sure its roots were still relatively intact, instead of chopped down to fit in a too-small pot. I liked digging up my own tree - very hunter/gatherish!

DP is the manager of the outdoor plant area in a garden centre, including xmas trees. He says they are going amazingly fast at the moment, and he's coming home with hands scratched up with hauling trees about and netting them up for customers.

Ours is an artificial one.....Grin

My neighbours had a lovely tree delivered from a local florists last year - I was just arriving home when it was delivered and I was very Xmas Envy.

The next day the man was there with an inferior tree - apparently the original had been too big!

Alistron - "Free to a good home". But how will you KNOW it's a good home? Could you not be setting up this poor mutant tree for a lifetime of cruelty, possibly fighting or experimentation? Xmas Grin

alistron1 · 07/12/2011 18:56

I shall name the company 'cos they (IMHO) are awesome. It's the kilted christmas tree company Xmas Grin

I can't tell you how big tree number 2 is. I've never seen anything like it. When it's dressed I'll post a picture!
