I suppose its similay to a Cockatrice, Although the bits are all sewn up inside, rather than to each other! Cockatrice definitely sounds nicer than Turd ucken!

Mandy2003 · 03/12/2011 22:02

step away - I get one made up by my local independent butcher - enough for 4 people is around £10.00. I've seen Morrisons are offering them in their Christmas brochure but don't give the price. I was going to enquire tomorrow. I also noticed one in an Aldi advert today, but surely they won't be doing them up to Christmas?

A three-bird-roast is really nice cold on Boxing Day too!

Valpollicella · 03/12/2011 22:02

What is cockatrice ?

SaggyoldCHRISTMASHUMBUGcatpuss · 03/12/2011 22:15

Cockatrice is a wierd creature that is made up of parts of other animals. Like head of a goat, body of a bird, tail of a fish, that kind of thing. Not strictly the same, but better than being called a Turducken, surely!

Millicano · 03/12/2011 22:19

cockatrice must be 3 cocks stuffed into eathother

moonbells · 03/12/2011 22:24

We once ordered a three bird roast (goose stuffed with chicken stuffed with pheasant, with sausage stuffing in the layers) from Seldom Seen Farm in Northants, after we'd seen them on a Rick Stein programme.

It was amazing. Though I did get caught out by a bit of shot...

Though those of you going at the thought of the stuffing process do not want to look at their website!!! Grin Grin

Millicano, sounds like porn! Shock

PastGrace · 03/12/2011 23:01

Feeling flush, anyone?

step away my parents used to get a three bird roast from the people linked to above, but I assume prices have gone up a bit since then! It was wonderful though.

AnyoneforTurps · 03/12/2011 23:11

YANBU - hideous.

BestIsFestive · 03/12/2011 23:21

DH bought the Lidl version last week. It was truly vile.

Like the sound of a home made/ friendly local butcher/Jilly Cooperesque proper one though.

thenightsky · 03/12/2011 23:42

Loving idea of saggy as Jilly Cooper character, weilding bread knife to bone game birds.

Are you drenched in Penhaligan's Bluebell Saggy?

Yuck yuck yuck! The ad always makes me feel slightly sick.

Mind you DD2 is veggie and I suspect some of it may be rubbing off!

The bread knife was the only one I had that was sharp!

NOPE! I currently smell like extremely ripe Stinking Bishop cheese, and pork pies, as Ive been at work today, and Pies and Cheese is what I sell!

Did I mention that I own a sausage maker, and once made my own bacon?

I think you're all just hot for Hugh F W. Have you not noticed that he's Harry Hill with hair?

SaggyoldCHRISTMASHUMBUGcatpuss · 04/12/2011 00:33

I really dont fancy HFW! I do however admire him for what he does. Hes not bad looking I spose, but he just doesnt do it for me! which is unsusal, because Ill fantasize about anything at the moment!

WhoopsyLa · 04/12/2011 00:42

The way saggy describes it sounds fine but I DON'T like the thought of sewing up my meat.

Far too surgical!

Millicano · 04/12/2011 00:42

I bet HFW would like to be stuffed and stuffed again.
