I went to Pret this morning to pick up breakfast for DH (there was no parking, so he was in the car)

There were two counters and I was at one and the other was empty. I ordered a coffee and while we were discussing what type, white or black etc., a female customer came up the other counter (no one was there, as the guy was making my coffee).

The server asked me if I wanted anything else, and I said a bacon and egg sandwich. Get this - the other customer leaned over and took the last bacon and egg sandwich from the counter. I was Shock and got a tomato and egg one instead.

Isn't that rude or AIBU? What is the etiquette, 'first come, first served' or 'every man to himself'?

The other woman was heavily pregnant btw, not sure if it relevant Grin

Oma! Shock how could you do that? Her precious son could still have had one and you the other! I'm afraid if she had tried that with me she would have been treated to an incredulous stare and a derisive laugh :)

it was f*cking unbelievable, trying to negotiate for ownership of something i had pretty much already bought! I still smart about it now. pregnancy makes me a bit less logical than usual!

porcamiseria · 01/12/2011 09:45

the bitch!!!!!

SantasStrapon · 01/12/2011 09:52

I'd have bought both. Blush

omaoma 'and you are an adult woman, selflessly giving your cake to your son. This is my cake'. [mean]

omaoma · 01/12/2011 11:02

love it nagoo. how i WISH i had been able to come up with something like that!

i do wonder if she was doing one of those assertiveness courses where you're supposed to try and negotiate for everything to get the practice in... which i applaud in principle. but not when it's my flipping cake!

AKMD · 01/12/2011 12:43

oma office straw poll says you should have bought both :o

Eggrules · 01/12/2011 12:49

oma cheeky cah

SayYuleNowSayGift · 01/12/2011 12:52

oma I would have metaphorically given her the finger and then bought both bits of cake just for the sheer cheek of her.
