Ended up telling my boss what i thought of him on thursday, he said some totally vile things about another employee and i told him i thought what he said was disgusting and out of order, this was at the end of the day and i had a days holiday on friday. Dreading going into work.
Aibu to think that i should stand my ground even if it means my next few weeks will be stressful and hard. I finish to go onto maternity leave in 3 weeks time. the comments he made were about an employee being on drugs (he's got no reason to think this - he just doesn'tlike the 'look' of him)

Id stand your ground. Its completely unprofessional to discuss another employee so fair play to you to pull him up on this.

I think Im going in after two weeks annual leave tomorrow to a row. hoping I can hold my tongue!! Im not the most useful of people when angry.

If he even breathes at you funny, put in a grievance and/or go above his head. He shouldn't be making allegations about other employees like that, totally unacceptable.

Be prepared to accept that you could have dealt with the situation in a different way though. Good luck!

He's the owner/managing director, he made the comments in front of the whole office. i do think in hindsight i should of asked to speak to him alone about it but i was so angry Angry

Ring these people for advice?

You could also repost in Legal or Employment and hope someone with the right knowledge spots it?

Tryharder · 27/11/2011 21:51

I am sure things will be fine. You were out of order but he was out of order too. I am sure both of you prefer to forget it ever happened. Please don't seek legal advice unless you end up getting sacked or something - saying that someone is on drugs seems quite mild to some the comments where I work.....

snoopdogg · 27/11/2011 21:58

I'd ask to meet him privately first thing and apologise for calling him in front of everyone to disarm him then repeat that you felt strongly that he was wrong to publicly slag a colleague but that you hope it won't damage your working relationship and that you are committed to the company...... blah blah

Hi

I didn't apologise this morning, and it hasn't been mentioned, so im just going to ac like nothing happened i think. He has been nice as pie today and hasn't made any vile comments about his employees today so maybe what i said has sunk in!
