Plenty of people are coming out against - if you want to help redress the balance, please fill in the Scottish government's same-sex marriage consultation. It only takes a couple of minutes:

Why would same sex marriages devalue mixed sex marriages??? Hmm I've never heard that one before.

Anyway, thanks for highlighting OP and I've signed it and sent it off.

Done.

I'm all for a human (no matter what race, colour, creed or sexuality) being able to marry the person they love.

As for devaluing marriage - the 55hr marriage of Britney Spears springs to mind, along with a few others.

I'm not Scottish but I'm going to bump and offer my support.

What other people choose to do has nothing to do with anyone else. If you believe their marriage isn't real 'under the eyes of God' it won't devalue yours will it? Just theirs if you're right (which I don't think you are)

Can not understand why anyone would object??? Filled in and sent with hope for making a difference!

I'm not in Scotland either, but I can't understand why anyone in a heterosexual marriage would feel less married because gay people were allowed to marry too. Sounds a bit - no, actually a lot - lacking in kindness, unselfishness and human decency to me.

ratspeaker · 26/11/2011 22:15

There is a school of thought, that marriages performed according to a certain religion's dogma are the only "REAL" marriage
anyone else isn't really married

I have been told this to my face as I got married in a registry office

dementedma · 26/11/2011 22:35

I'll abstain thanks,as I don't like being asked to petition on other people's agendas. Do I have that right, I wonder?

TapselteerieO · 26/11/2011 23:28

I filled it in and shared the link on fb.
