rhubarb i agree. i am on both but use mn more for the forum and nm for the local stuff. i don't get the negative attitude towards netmums, its a useful website and if you don't like their forum noone will force you to use it so why we bothered about it

Meh - actually not so much referring to netmums the forum and all it's varied posters as nethuns as a specific breed. For me part of the 'fun' of mumsnet is the tongue in cheek superiority complex that is present on this site. It's an outlet that is safe from RL.

I love lurking on that site but find it a bit odd that even the most dire and upsetting posts are accompanied with very glittery embelishments (for want of a better word )Even after miscarriage or poorly baby posts there is a ticker tape type thing decorating the very sad convos with a running theme of other peoples babies birthdays.Perhaps I'm just an old gimmer but some of the stuff does seem rather inappropriate at times.

Netmums sounds quite like Babycentre-that used to have lots of flashing distracting tickers IIRC.
