to think that if we start sending junk mail back, the senders will get the message?

I've had enough of the junk mail coming through my door, its just another thing to tidy, frankly I don't have the time and I just hate the waste.

This morning royal mail stuffed a whole bunch of mail through the door, about 8 leaflets. Its just irritating me, since it is not actually addressed mail, just leaflets, I can't "return to sender", so I'm thinking I might start putting it back in the post box, anyone joining me?!

oh no, mokeypuzzle that's depressing.

It's so bloody ridiculous, before I got the sign I used to take the junk out of the mailbox and place it directly into the green recycling bin. I often used to fantasise about getting a letterbox installed DIRECTLY in the bin itself!

cerealqueen · 23/11/2011 21:39

I always return the credit card companies stuff in their pre-paid envelope and sometimes throw in few take-away menus for good measure.

startail · 23/11/2011 21:39

Charity bags are fine. You just turn them inside out and use as free bin bagsGrin

ginmakesitallok · 23/11/2011 21:40

But then again - If Royal Mail stop delivering this it cuts off an income stream therefore they'll just put up the price of a stamp?? Just goes straight in the recycling bin here.

startail · 23/11/2011 21:43

They generate a huge amount of mess in my hall.
All adverts should be glued into their respective magazine or catalogue, by law!

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 23/11/2011 21:45

They always use the price of a stamp argument.

I don't buy stamps.

I use the huge stash I have from the last time Royal Mail fucked up royally.

ScarletForYa · 23/11/2011 21:46

I always shake the magazines and newspapers in the shop before I buy them so all the bumpf falls out!

sky are the worst, they must be single handedly responsible for destroying more trees in this world than any other company!! Angry

ginmakesitallok · 23/11/2011 21:47

...Sky and Dominos fucking pizza

Sparklingbrook · 23/11/2011 21:48

The Saturday and Sunday magazines (that come with the newspapers) sneakily wrapped in cellophane with the crappy Sky and mobile phone leaflets inside though. Angry

MatLeaveForever · 23/11/2011 21:49

Okay even I hate the Sky ones!

Royal mail are not bound by No Junk Mail signs on your door or by MPS registeation. You have to opt out of their junk mail service by completing a form. Google it, you have to request the form by email and am on my phone so don't have the link to hand. This should stop unaddressed mail and To The Occupier items.

Register with the Mail Preference Service to stop addressed junk mail coming.

You can buy door plaques on eBay which say 'no junk mail, no leaflets, no charity bags' which cost about £2.00 Smile

Flisspaps · 23/11/2011 21:51

*registration

Thanks Flisspaps, didn't know about that one, have signed up to the others, which helped. Its the bundle of leaflets with no name on that irritate.

Here is the email address [email protected] send them your name and address, they then send a form.
