When shops do 3 for 2 offers and you get the cheapest free wibu to do seperate transactions! I want 9 things 3 of each price... Oh does anyone understand, my dh thinks I'm mad.

If it's 3 for 2 surely you don't need to go back 3 times - just buy 9 and get 3 free. Or however many you want.

fuzzynavel · 23/11/2011 15:42

No not at all.. Go for it.

MrsChristmasDB · 23/11/2011 15:42

I understand but do you have to go back 3 times ?

Can't you just buy the nine things and get three free ? Confused

SandStorm · 23/11/2011 15:42

If there's no limit on items purchased, just do it in one go.

fuzzynavel · 23/11/2011 15:43

Tesco have an excellent deal on at the moment. Buy one selection box and get 2 free! That equates to £1 each.

SummerRain · 23/11/2011 15:44

Wine... the cheapest item is free, so if she gets 9 things the three cheapest will be discounted.

If she goes 3 times and gets the three most expensive in one go, then the three next most expensive, then the three cheapest she'll get one of each rice discounted and save more money.

OP, I would if I had enough time to do it. Go for it!

TheNewMrsC · 23/11/2011 15:47

Know exactly what you mean I have does this before no YANBU plus I used to be a weekender in a shop and I'd there was a promotion like this on I would offer to put the transaction through separately for customers to save them money - no one I know would think anything of it anyway

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/11/2011 15:49

That is what conveyor belt separaters are for. Grin

Tiredprobably · 23/11/2011 15:50

Thanks for clarifying for me, my brain is addled with sums! I wonder if I can ask for seperate transactions. It really is a huge saving.

It would be so much easier in the super Market, nobody knows what goes on at those self checkouts! No it's boots, have to deal with a scary assistant.

QuintesentialShadows · 23/11/2011 15:52

Just divide it up into separate transactions and say you are shopping for your friend and your parents, too!

WineAndPizza · 23/11/2011 15:54

Summer thanks, that makes sense!

If it saves you a lot and you have the time OP then go for it!

catsmother · 23/11/2011 15:55

I do this all the time where the cheapest item is free .... guess it depends what sort of shop it is, but in supermarkets you just put it through in separate transactions yourself on the self-serve tills to avoid any argument.

FWIW, in Boots, their system maximises savings for you with their buy 3, pay for 2 offers even if in one transaction. I bought 3 x £10 yesterday, and 3 x £5 and had £15 deducted.

SummerRain · 23/11/2011 15:57

I was in M&S at christmas a few years back and the cashier put all my 3for2 christmas stuff through in lots of 3 for me, I didn't even ask her to (too cowardly!)

Most assistants won't mind but if you're worried just go in a few times and do them separately... there's nothing they can say to you after all!

horsemadgal · 23/11/2011 16:03

Argos are like that when they do it too. I just ask them to do 3 separate transactions.
Boots are fab though, they do it the right way woo!

startail · 23/11/2011 16:03

I've asked in M&S no problem.
DH and I were in Tescos the other day so he paid for the cheapest 3 and I did the rest (I had the club card)

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 23/11/2011 16:06

I think Catsmother is right re Boots. I had the same thing in Waterstones when buying lots of books on offer but at different prices and it deducted price of 3rd 6th and 9th item (if you ranked them in descending price order). Check beforehand and split the transaction if you need to. The assistants don't mind.

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 23/11/2011 16:08

Yes in M&S you do need to do it separately as their computer otherwise takes off the 3 cheapest items. I've thought about this too much Smile

lborolass · 23/11/2011 16:13

If its Boots you don't need to go through 3 times, as others have said their tills will work it out to your advantage but always best to check before you pay.
