to be pissed off at this mum at preschool

Last week DD's preschool informed us that they had had a case of Hand, Foot and mouth and to obviously check children for symptoms. Now I know it is very contagious and there is a high chance DD will contract it but i'm hoping not as I am aware it can be quite horrid.

Anyway, this morning I overheard one of the mums saying that her toddler now had Hand, foot and mouth and was showing the rash on her toddlers hand (I saw the rash myself) and saying how she couldn't eat etc. This mums older child attends the preschool so I knmow she has to get them there and can't leave the contagious toddler at home but she then proceeded to take the toddler into the preschool room where all the children play etc and let the toddler wander around playing with the toys etc while she chatted with the staff.
So AIBU to be pissed off that she blatantly took a contagious child into the preschool? (bearing in mind if it was the older child who attends the preschool she would have had to keep them off)

YANBU
Please inform the staff.

YANBU, that's just silly.

SarahStratton · 21/11/2011 11:31

Stupid bloody woman. YANBU, I'd ring the preschool and let them know.

YANBU.

Very selfish behaviour on the part of that Mum, I would tell the nursery staff that you are not happy about it. They are knowingly putting their children at risk by allowing this, and they shoudl send a letter home saying that no child with symptoms is to be brought on to nursery premises.

Why didn't you say something at the time? Or bring the toddler back to the mum saying "I don't think s/he should be wandering off as she is contagious"?

If you knew about it, then you should have acted on it.

singingsands I didn't see that the toddler was inside mixing with the other children until I was going out of the door, plus the mum in question is a governor of the pre school so I didn't want to cause a big scene. I think I will talk to the staff when I pick DD up shortly. I am half expecting that the older child of this family is going to get it too and could well be contagious now before any symptoms show so I am just going to have to be vigilant in looking for signs in DD.
Still annoyed that she did it though
