because her youngest dc has hand foot and month?

He came out with the spots yesterday, were going to the cinema so he won't actully be there, it's the older two that are invited.
Aibu to say they can't come now incase they are contagious?

It's hardly a life threatening ailment is it?

uniCorny · 16/11/2011 17:17

don't you have a plastic bubble for such an emergency?

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 16/11/2011 17:18

Well my 3 year old had it 2 weeks ago and my older DD (7) didn't catch it until after little DDs spots came out....but it's not USUALLY older kids who catch it....it's mostly under 3s...but that''s not to say your DC won't.

Its awful and to be honest if I were your sister, I wouldn't take my risky kids to a party.

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 16/11/2011 17:19

mrbloom it is a HORRBLE illness! My DC were both crying with mmouths FULL of sores. COuld not eat or sleep for three days...not nice at ALL.

BreeVanDerTramp · 16/11/2011 17:19

Actually I don't think YABU, but then I had a m/c caused by contracting hand/foot/mouth from a child at a party - should have stayed in a bubble I suppose.

slavetofilofax · 16/11/2011 17:20

YANBU, they shouldn't be at the party.

But I would offer to make it up to the older children by taking them to the cinema another time when you can be sure they are not contagious.

KatAndKit · 16/11/2011 17:21

Yes good point, you never know if any of the other parents of the other children may be pregnant. infectious people should be avoiding infecting others, it's only fair.

MrBloomsNursery · 16/11/2011 17:22

Oh, well my daughter's must have been a mild attack then. She only got one black blister on the side of her tongue and a couple on the inside of her cheeks. She also hand a blister on her foot.

Okay, maybe I was a bit bitchy in that first response. h/f/m can cause miscarriages aswell, so I wouldn't take them to a cinema full of people if they've caught it aswell.

Hassled · 16/11/2011 17:24

I think you're being fair enough. Is your sister the understanding type?

mohara · 16/11/2011 17:25

Totally agree with you OP, my two DDs (4 and 1) have it at the moment and it's horrible, not to mention dangerous in certain circumstances.
This is not a 'pfb' post but some of the glib replies above are the reasons that viruses like these are rampant at the moment.

banana87 · 16/11/2011 17:25

YANBU. Hopefully you won't have to tell her anyway because her dc are probably feeling quite poorly with it anyway Sad

halcyondays · 16/11/2011 17:35

Yanbu

Lollyheart · 16/11/2011 17:36

Thankfully she understood, I felt quilty after I told her so thought I would put it to you lot Grin
I will make it up to them Smile
