I adore my baby. We 'talk' and play all the time and I just want the best for DC ... but AIBU to hate people talking to my child in baby talk and fussing in a sugary sweet way?

I'm not overly maternal and prefer adult parties with wine rather than kids parties with jelly and ice-cream!

I love MY baby so much but find other kids a little annoying (I know ... I know - others will one day feel like this about my DC when they grow up!) so ... shoot me now or do others feel this way! Be honest Grin

I love kids parties! Mainly for the food, but they have to have those weird pink and white marshmallow coconut squashie biscuits. And those cheap flourescent orange cheese puffs. Mmmm.
I do silly talk all the time to my ds, and he does it back...since he's not a baby anymore! I don't care! I am not no nonsense. Very much nonsense!

Pag performance parenting - brilliant phrase. I am related to one of these mothers. My eyebrows take hours to come down from my hairline after spending time with her and Perfect Girl 1 and Perfect Boy 2.

I thank you for helping my be bitchy succinctly :o

oi, I rather like my yummy mummy bag and its not shite - It can carry everything I need for a 2 year old, a weaning baby and my handbag stuff. (Flounces slightly) other than that I basically agree with the OP but beware of "I will never.." statements in the early days... they might just come back to haunt you when you are trying to get round the supermarket with a toddler Smile

Speaking in a sing song voice to babies is a good thing - it actually comes naturally to many of us - it's like parenting tourettes.

How do you speak to your child? Full sentences, long words like they're an adult? Poor child Grin

And jelly and ice-cream ROCKS. you can put vodka in the jelly (adult) dontcha know? Grin

Fair enough if you feel like that but I think kidsparties are quite fun. I always foud loads of dads seem to like them to if they are at places like fun houses so they can run round like maniacs but have an excuse Grin

I work in a senior school and I cringe when parents ring up and say "I am so and so's mummy". However, we are all differerent - personally I also talked to my sons pretty much as adults and they seem to have turned out fine. (now 21 and 19 and at uni) Grin I have a younger colleague who works part time and adores going to things like baby singing. I would rather have stuck pins in my eyes.
