I'm so happy no one will be touching my boobies anymore and they're all mine!!
Woop

I've been breastfeeding since february 2007.
My first boy for 2 1/2 years, then I had a few months to myself during pregnancy.
Then I breastfed my younger child for 19 months until last week.

And now it's over :D :D :D

It's a great feeling isn't it? I fed my dd for 18 months then got pregnant again the month that I stopped. I then fed my ds for another 18 until he lost interest. It was lovely to chuck the horrible greying feeding bras away and buy some new sexy underwear. I also celebrated changing my last dirty nappy this year. Yay. Am so over babies and don't feel the slightest bit broody.

Well done on feeding for so long! I've only been going for just under a year and although I am so happy to have got this far sometimes I feel like it's never going to end. I'd also like to start TTC No. 2 before getting too ancient. I'll have mixed feelings when I finally stop I think.

Why are you all in feeding bras? I haven't worn one since the early newborn stage and have managed very well in my normal underwires.

JAMW · 15/11/2011 21:13

Am currently on a train to London with my 12 week old somehow wedged in between boob and table feeding, much to the disgust of the others on the table. I salute you for managing that long!

MeconiumHappens · 15/11/2011 21:20

blooming well done to you :) :) :)

AnonyMaw · 15/11/2011 21:21

YANBU. What with my kids, I had 4.5 years solid breastfeeding, I was well pleased when it all ended. A downside now though is that my boobs have disappeared altogether, and I'm gaining weight all over, except for on my boobs, ironically.

wem · 15/11/2011 21:21

Really TMM? Isn't it a bit uncomfortable manipulating boob over the top of a normal cup? I'm ok staying in nursing bras I'd just rather not have to keep buying new ones. My boobs have been steadily shrinking for the last six months Sad.

SlinkyB · 15/11/2011 21:29

Well done you - what a fantastic achievement! Hope you celebrate by buying lovely new bras, and tops that don't have buttons down them! Grin.

pointythings · 15/11/2011 21:55

Good for you! Treat yourself to something fab, you deserve it.

I did 13 months with both of mine, I wish now that I'd done longer/tandem fed DD1 and DD2 and all that, carried on with a morning and evening feed for longer than I did, but that said it was nice to have my boobs back (and they didn't shrink or drop either, not until I turned unfit and 40)

ouryve · 15/11/2011 22:29

I did a similar stint with my boys. My biggest act of celebration was being able to take an antihistamine when my allergies flared (though the odd excess of alcohol may have been involved, somewhere along the line, too!)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 15/11/2011 22:55

Great achievement.

I have to ask though. How do you get pregnant when breastfeeding. Dd is nearly 10 months and periods have not returned yet.

SirBoobAlot · 15/11/2011 23:16

Well done you! Def not unreasonable. Nice new bras for christmas, I think!

Molly, you kind of change how you think and feel about it as time passes. My son has just turned two, and I find more and more I appriciate the calm snuggly moments of breastfeeding now he always has better things to do. When is having a fussy day like toddlers do, and wants to be attached to me constantly, then I think "Right thats it, we're stopping!!" - and then he looks at me with his big eyes, kisses my nipples, and says "Aww milk, love you". And that melts my heart enough to go along with the gymnastics. Do enjoy breastfeeding so much more than I ever thought I would, and as much as I want my body back sometimes, seeing all the positive bits that come from it makes up for it a thousand times over!
