to give way to the cat

We have a salad spinner
It lives in it's box on a high shelf
It is in use tonight for spinning coriander
Dh left the box open on the side in the kitchen

The cat has got in it

She looks very, very comfy and is curled up.

Dh wants to move her.

I say this is unfair and am mentally planning where else the spinner can live

AIBU?

Of course not. The box has been claimed by the cat. Therefore you can have no further claim on the object in question, namely The Box.

Wolfiefan · 14/11/2011 20:50

Lost my lovely cat a couple of weeks ago to hit and run driver. (Seemed really unfair as treatment for his cancer seemed to be working!) I say let sleeping cats lie and buy a new spinner!

Kayano · 14/11/2011 20:51

No bless. Grin
My cats are sleeping in a roll of unused carpet that was stacked nicely in the conservatory. They seem to have developed thumbs and built a den Hmm

But I did misread your thread title and thought 'oh no this will end terribly!'

ihatecbeebies · 14/11/2011 20:54

Your husband is being unreasonable, the cat should stay in his new box/home!

hiddenhome · 14/11/2011 20:57

ds2 was in his bed the other night and the cat was curled up asleep on his pillow with ds2 half way down the bed Grin

Bestb411pm · 14/11/2011 20:59

Your DH is VU. He has obviously forgotten who's house he's living in (the cats obviously)

Sorry about your cat wolfiefan Sad

ElectricSoftParade · 14/11/2011 21:01

Wolfiefan, sorry to read about your cat and hope you are doing alright.

OP, the cat must stay. You and your DH must have soggy salad until a new spinner is found.

lovelyredwine · 14/11/2011 21:19

The cat has claimed the box. It is no longer your box. sorry op.

Our cats also love boxes. There could be trouble this year as our dd is also somewhat enamoured of them. We are thinking of just getting her boxes for Christmas and it will teach the 3 of them sharing and not cost us very much. Result.

Hassled · 14/11/2011 21:20

Of course you have to accommodate the cat's needs at all times. Call yourself a cat owner? I despair.

LittleMissFlustered · 14/11/2011 21:23

Very wise to give way. It will be noted, and when the revolution comes you will be remembered.

purplepidjin · 14/11/2011 21:25

Much as I love my animals, I would not put food used to prepare food in something the cat has slept in - disgusting!

So, from a practical and hygienic point of view, YANBU Wink

purplepidjin · 14/11/2011 21:25

*something used to prepare food. I know what I meant Blush

MangoMonster · 14/11/2011 21:28

If you leave something out to be slept in...it's no longer yours... It now beluga to your feline master...

soandsosmummy · 14/11/2011 21:29

Your DH is being very unreasonable. I'm currently sitting on floor as cats stretched out fast asleep on sofa

ElizabethPonsonby · 14/11/2011 21:31

If you leave an empty box out, it belongs to the cat until they are bored of it. It's the law.

We have lots of boxes left about in this house as we moved 6 months ago and the cat likes to have a change of scene every now and then...

LadyBeagleEyes · 14/11/2011 21:33

I can never sort my washing basket anymore unless my cat moves.

I also have a problem getting of my chair to get a drink if one of them has settled on my lap.

PowderMum · 14/11/2011 21:41

Sometimes the cat lets DD sleep in her own bed :)

somedayma · 14/11/2011 22:39

yanbu. The cat knows what its doing. Who are we to question the cat's master plan?

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 14/11/2011 22:53

I have lost a dressing gown to my cats. Covered in hair and dribble (and washed regularly!) but I can't resist watching them suckle and knead it.

Spent a small fortune on one of those indoor/outdoor beanbags for DH his X Box chair which he can never sit on as the cats are on it.

Love them though

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 14/11/2011 22:55

Oh, and could only do half the crossword the other day as the cat lay across the 'down' clues. I came back to the crossword later when she got bored.

This thread has reminded me of [my favourite children's book [http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0140502424/ref=aw_d_detail?pd=1]]
