to think that next-door shouldn't be burning all their crap in the back garden?

My next door neighbours have bonfires on a fairly regular basis on which they burn rubbish. I have seen them put black bin liners of rubbish on the fire before, god knows what is in them.

I have just been out to the bin in our back garden and they have lit another bonfire and are burning rubbish again. There was quite a lot of smoke and it was blowing towards my house, the smell was very strong at my back door.

I saw the man from next door and asked him if he was burning plastic as the fire smelt very plastic-ky and he said yes, and some crates we had lying about.

FYI we live in a city, in a built up area, on a residential street. We have our garden waste collected so there is no need for anyone to burn garden waste, and there is a tip 5 mins down the road. Next-door have a car.

AIBU to think they should be taking their rubbish to the tip and NOT burning it in the back garden?

contact the council, there may be regulations about it? i didnt think you are allowed to just burn plastic like that as it can be toxic

That's what I am worried about, maybe I should start with a polite note through the door first?

Depends what they are burning - leaves etc are ok but not plastics. No note - go and have a word face to face.
