I came to this job 8 months ago. I was head hunted with the promise of OTE that were enormous. It is impossible to acheive, and everybody else at work admits this too. I am barely making ends meet.

A role within the company has arisen that would be my dream job here, yet I am not allowed to apply because of HR rulings that you must have been here 1 year. The position will be filled and so wont arise again. They admit I am perfect for the job but their 'hands are tied'

I feel like walking I am so gutted.

Could you not apply for the position - do the new job but stay in your old 'named' position for 4 mths and then move over. If they say you are perfect for the position then there must be a way round it. Good Luck !

DogStinkhorn · 14/11/2011 13:12

Apply any way.

shoobydoowop · 14/11/2011 13:24

The director has said I can't apply :(

They promised you earnings you can never achieve, and have bizarre internal rules which prohibit the best internal candidate applying for a job?! I'd be looking elsewhere for a new opportunity if at all possible . . .

GeneHuntsMistress · 14/11/2011 13:32

Why don't you resign, job sounds crP anyway. Then apply for new position, 1 year rule won't apply then will it?

shoobydoowop · 14/11/2011 13:35

I think that is my only option Bramshott which is a shame because I love the job and the company

Rules can generally be bent where there is genuinely the will to do so, even by using a long 'notice period' in your current job or whatever. If the person recruiting to the role thought you were genuinely the perfect person they'd either bend the rule or wait for you rather than going through an arduous and time-consuming external process by no means guaranteed to come up with a good result.

shoobydoowop · 14/11/2011 13:43

my line manager has just emailed telling me to be patient, they have 'plans' for me.

I hate being left hanging on a shite salary though

flowery They have said no to others in the past - people who are still here and we are a global company which is why I think they are being so strict with the rules
