Why do we still do this?

Apart from working animals, guide/guard dogs etc, isn't it odd that we keep animals in our homes? Expensive, huge amounts of waste that has to be dealt with, extermination of songbirds etc etc

Yes?
No?

Am discussing with dd, so interested in views!

I was quoting rebecca - I don't think that's a particularly accurate description of pet ownership anyway (a dog not able to entertain itself? ha!)

Lula how exciting! Yet another MNer who lives in our deeply unMNy part of London.

I wish I had done a spreadsheet because I can only remember one other.

I migh take to whispering 'nice ham' when I am next up the Mount to see if I can catch you out! Grin

And you'd have to be a total masochist to like the dependent bit of having dogs. Even when you're feeling like crap and want to curl up with a blanket they still need to be walked every day. In the bitter cold, in the rain and in the snow.
