To take this back to the shop?

I bought my Russell Hobbs vacuum from our small local independent electrical shop less than a year ago. I bought bags for it from ebay until recently, when I couldn't find them any more. After much shenanigans I went back to the shop to ask them to help me, and the man there has finally discovered that the model is discontinued and the bags are no longer available!
We have tried some similar looking bags but the things has absolutely no suck.

Do I have any rights do you think, it is a great cleaner. But no use without bags!

Yes, take it back to the shop and see what they say.

Not sure if this one is down to the shop or the manufacturer, have you tried contacting Russell Hobbs to see what they say?

blackoutthesun · 13/11/2011 21:58

"local independent electrical shop"

I bet they got them on the cheap because they were getting discontinued, and then flogged them off.

Yes take it back to the shop.

Which vacuum is it? I am sure there must be some universal bag that would fit in it?

trulyscrumptious43 · 14/11/2011 17:39

Yes MrBloomsNursery, I think you have hit the nail on the head there.
It is a Russell hobbs 2200W Turbo pet bag. It's one of those which are white with black spots, like a dalmatian.
I have been looking all over for universal bags, I was using some I found on ebay, and they seem to be obsolete too.

Go on Good Housekeeping and ask for bags, ideas and suggestions. It's a good board.

You may have a small claim if you can demonstrate that the shop were likely to know you would encounter this problem. Do you think this is the case?

PigletJohn · 14/11/2011 18:25

see what the model number is. Might be on a plate round the back or in the instruction book. You can usually get replacement bags for 20 years or more, so the makers or a fleabay supplier would probably know a similar model (without the spots) that takes the same size.

PigletJohn · 14/11/2011 18:29

Is it the model 13947?

like this?

bags
