To want to start my own business (but don't know what) in this financial climate?

It's all doom and gloom isn't it? Do you think there is even a little ray of hope that I could start up a business in this day and age?

I have 9K saved up from when I was working. I haven't worked for over a year now, and TBH, dread the thought of working for someone else and putting in hours of work only to gain nothing.

I want to start a business from home, but have no idea what I want to do, which is a bit thick I know. Would it be stupid of me to even consider spending my hard earned money on a venture that may not even work out?

One last thing I forgot, never underestimate the amount of paperwork you will have to do and regulations etc if you employ anyone

or never underestimate the use that a delegated paper pusher like me can be.

I'm damned good at what I do - which is maximising cashflow and opportunities while eliminating fines

as I key the invoices I look at the gaps - slacks - leeways

if your accountant does not do the same - change accountant

I have/have had two different businesses in two different fields and in two different countries - both successful in their own right. What did they both have in common? Both were PASSIONS of mine... the first was a hobby that I took further, and it went national! I then moved abroad and worked in the corporate world in my industry for years. The second (and current) was a need for change and doing something I loved - working with children.

So think of what you LOVE doing.. and then think how you can make money doing it! Good luck... being an entrepreneur is risky, fun, exhilarating, hard and fulfilling x

No matter what the financial climate, YABU to want to "start your own business" when you have no idea what that business would be.
