On the rocks, small wedge of lime.

Sometimes have a brandy and Calpol before bed as well.

Benylin is my tipple of choice. Neat, no twist.

GeraldineAubergine · 12/11/2011 15:43

Tixylix with a swirl of pepto bismol for me.

limitedperiodonly · 12/11/2011 15:44

YABU. Lemon is the only acceptable citrus fruit to have with gin.

Lime is pretentious. Especially if you do that awful thing of wiping it round the edge of the glass so it's all you can taste.

MrsChemist · 12/11/2011 15:45

Infacol martinis here.

Jux · 12/11/2011 15:47

My dad and drunken uncle did drink gin and gripe water....

GeraldineAubergine · 12/11/2011 15:48

I prefer to rub a cooked Lincolnshire sausage round the edge of my cocktails, herby AND savoury. Et voila!

grovel · 12/11/2011 15:52

limitedperiodonly, now that you have validated my gin and gripe water I will switch to lemon. Mortified by my faux pas.

OK, limited, are fish knives vulgar?

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 12/11/2011 16:35

Unnecessary, I think, which is the same as being vulgar.

I eat with my cutlery in the 'wrong' hands so if someone gives me a fish knife I have to use it upside down and then they sneer and judge.

Unfortunately, fish knives are not only vulgar but never sharp enough to be useful stabbing implements.

thousandDenier · 12/11/2011 16:39

Covonia is a good substitute for Jagermeister.

NB a fish knife is the only implement that will currently open my washing machine.

SnapesMistress · 12/11/2011 16:48

Are steak knives vulgar too? Does they fact that they are sharp and stabby make up for it?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 12/11/2011 16:53

I have found Actifed to be a passable substitute for sloe gin.

I'm on good old-fashioned lemsip and whisky today.

coastgirl · 12/11/2011 17:25

Infacol and Gordons for me.

I call it a Ginfacol.

MrsChemist · 12/11/2011 17:25

A while ago (whilst ill, so I could be mistaken) I read the side of the buttercup syrup box and it's about as alcoholic as a weak wine.

It tastes fucking great anyway.

Crevix · 12/11/2011 17:30

i'm partial to a small shot of gaviscon as an amuse bouche.

beanandspud · 12/11/2011 18:20

Does gripe water freeze? You could make novelty ice cubes for the gin useful for parties or emergencies.
