Husband is grumbling about his lack of bedroom storage space compared to mine and blaming this on the fact that his wardrobe looks like it houses a small, localised tornado.

His complaint: He has 1 bedside table and 1 double wardrobe. Whereas I have 1 bedside table, 1 double wardrobe, 1 single wardrobe, 1 large dressing table, 1 blanket box thingy and 2 underbed storage thingies. Not fair.

My defence: He has an entire room in the basement of equal size to the bedroom for his sole use. He could fit 20 wardrobes in there if he wanted. So on your bike sonny jim or you'll be sleeping in your hobbit hole.

I agree with you. DH has an entire room full of rubbish for his sole use. He often spreads out into the hallway and I open his door and chick it back in. If YABU, so am I !!!

Chuck not chick

I'm considering selling my old shoes on ebay. Especially the really manky ones.

quietlyafraid · 10/11/2011 16:37

well do you NEED everything? Theres always room for a clear out even if you don't give in to husbands grumbling! The amount of stuff I found that I will never use again is frightening.

AndTheyCalledHimSantyClaws · 10/11/2011 16:38

my dp has one single wardrobe and 3 drawers.

I have 5 single wardrobes and 9 drawers

He accepts that its tough Grin my clothes/shoes are very important, and can not be crammed in to less space!

Kladdkaka · 10/11/2011 16:39

The thing is, if he cleared out the stuff which shouldn't be in a wardrobe, it'd be pretty much empty. I took a look earlier. It appears to be full of old newspapers, chocolate wrappers, spanners, a hard hat and climbing harness Confused and what looks like spare bits from the scaffolding tower. I think he needs and intervention :o

Confused

I couldn't throw out anything I might possibly wear again. When I said about the shoes, I meant the really, really manky stuff. The sort you wouldn't even garden in.

quietlyafraid · 10/11/2011 16:45

Kladdkaka, have you suggested you both have a clear out? Watch how long it takes for him to forget the idea... trust me it works. ;)

kellestar · 10/11/2011 16:49

My husband has twice the wardrobe space as me and has a ton of clothes. However I have lots of pretty flat and shiney shoes, DH has his work boots, his smart shoes and his trainers.

I have yarn stashed in every single spare nook, he has a garage and two sheds.

We have to regularly compare to remind each other what we are filling up our house with.

Kladdkaka · 10/11/2011 16:52

I stood over him last night and made him clear out one drawer. Hence the grumbling. Once the rubbish was thrown and the tools removed to the hobit hole, the only thing in it was a belt and 3 pairs of socks. I took a look in the next one that I'm going to get him to do tonight. There's a loaf of bread of in there!

Your DH keeps bread in his drawers? Hmm

Kladdkaka · 10/11/2011 16:58

He said it's to feed the ducks on the lake near where he works. Why is it in the wardrobe? Because he's a nutter.

He reminds me of a 10 year old boy with bits of biscuit, string, conkers and his favourite comic shoved into his coat pocket. :o
