and controlling about toddler furniture choices?

I thought it might be nice for dd (18m) to have a table and chair. I suppose I thought it would be handy for drawing and so on as she got older. DH thinks it would be nice for her to have a little armchair. I just thought this was clutter. She climbed into an armchair yesterday to "read" a book. Don't know if this shows it would be nice for her, or shows that it's totally unnecessary because she can use an adult armchair. Since I'm the shopper, I need to know, am I being unreasonable to just ignore his cherished toddler furniture ideas? He's been talking about it for months! Money not a factor here really, happy to indulge this if it's the reasonable thing to do.

While we're here, it's the IKEA table and chair I get, isn't it? Would I need to look elsewhere for an armchair?

Do you know it's only just occurred to me, who started out unreasonably anti-armchair that "An Armchair" is in fact my long declared choice for a luxury should I ever appear on Desert Island Discs.

Little table and chair - great idea because big grown up tables are uncomfortable for little legs. Armchair, unnecessary, IMO. Even at 5 and 7, my kids sit on the floor more than they use the sofas.

It might be worth taking your DD for a mooch around Ikea and see what she likes. DS, 15 months, thought the mini chairs/tables were great as they are the perfect height for him to climb on Hmm decided against them in the end but am considering this which he loved.

Whenever I've seen those little armchairs, they are dirty. the ikea poang chair is washable. It is big though--just right for my thin DIL.

I just like the fact the little ones have somewhere of their own to sit when there are lots of people in :)

We have a kids wooden table and chairs. It is one of the best things we ever bought for DS. It is used most days.

He was given an armchair for Christmas a few years ago that has hardly been used.

If you are after an alternative to IKEA, I like the look of these. No idea about armchair I'm afraid, we're managing OK without one (DD is 2.6)

Ktay - those are great; too nice for kids! And actually not that much more than Ikea for some of the cheaper ones.
