A friend has told us all that she lost her mucus plug and how gross it is.

Probably wouldn't be sharing that bit of info on fb. I'm always surprised by the things some people share on there though. YANBU

fuzzynavel · 09/11/2011 16:27

tell her she should be off looking for it rather than posting about it!

NoSeriously · 09/11/2011 16:27

I just don't get it.

ThisIsANickname · 09/11/2011 17:01

And we all really appreciate you sharing that bit of information with us here... Bleurgh!

ZeldaUpNorth · 09/11/2011 17:20

Maybe its tongue in cheek? for example when i was heavily pg and had the million phonecalls a day to see if anything had happened i put my facebook status as "has checked her knickers for the 10th time today but still nothing" lol

fedupofnamechanging · 09/11/2011 17:24

Ask her if she's found it yet. Don't want to be stepping on that in the middle of the night when she gets up for a pee...

NoSeriously · 09/11/2011 17:30

Google it SB but you'll wish you hadn't

I will still keep it to myself when it happens though i promise

posterofaghoul · 09/11/2011 17:35

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

I (and her other friends on FB) had a step by step update of my SILs labour progress, including blood, mucus, pains, a de-breif of her sweep, updates every time the gap between her contractions shortened, etc etc.

Once the LO was here, I thought great, AND the ridiculous updates will stop.

Now, however, she posts every hour about her LO, ad how "hard being a mummy is" and the like. I would hide her if she wasnt family.

Give me strength.

I'd not use FB altogether if it wasnt for the fact I have friends and family at various locations in the UK and its the best way to keep in contact

MyRealName · 09/11/2011 17:37

A while ago- FB friend's sister is in labour and she is her birth partner.

The birth partner updates her status throughout the day, letting the world know how many cms dilated her sister is.
Ending up with: "the midwife can feel the baby's head, not long now sis, just keep them legs up and let the baby see daylight, lol."
Sister: "likes" this.

What is up with people! (Must edit my FB friends...)

worraliberty · 09/11/2011 17:39

Did she upload any photos? Grin

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 09/11/2011 17:42

No, we did get one of her fully dressed on the bed at Hosp which I quickly commented "SIL, just to say on behalf of everyone on you facebook, photo updates will not be required" Humour with bitchy undertones. It was wrong of me, but I felt it needed to be said.

eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww i googled it

lambethlil · 09/11/2011 17:44

Eugh at FB update, but when I was pregnant with DD1 I remember a male colleague telling me all about his wife's MP. I remember thinking that it was really sweet that he was so comfortable about it and was very happy, years later talking about it.

My DH, lovely as he is, has probably never seen a mucus plug and would climb out of a window rather than discuss anything more intimate than an elbow with a laydee.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/11/2011 17:44

I have a friend who uploaded photo updates............

pigletmania · 09/11/2011 17:47

YANBU at all, some people have no pride or shame!

NoSeriously · 09/11/2011 17:50

Sorry strandedbear but I felt it was one one of those things you had to learn about for yourself to understand the horror

OP posts:
grumplestilskin · 09/11/2011 17:53

I deleted someone who had a real life photo diary of the birth uploaded in real time from her hospital bed

  • husband drinking tea
  • husband talking to midwife who's name is x
  • me on gass and air taken by my outstretched arm

no. just.. no.
