My mother had hundreds, and I really do mean hundreds, of cookery books.

I think the whole situation is very tragic. The mother clearly needs help and prehaps appearing in the Daily mail is her way of asking for help.

The little girl is overweight, but I doult its any different to many seven year olds who are also overwieght. I don't think social service involvement is required unless it is deemed that the mother needs to be hospitalised and the child needs foster care or the girl needs support as a young carer.

Tecup* no...but looknig at her child, it's a very reasonable assumption.

The child is the height and weight of an average 10-11 year old, therefore she is not overweight, surely?

topknob · 09/11/2011 22:01

TBF I am 5ft 6 and weigh 8 stone. I have had children, not full term but healthly enough..my periods have never stopped..I have loads of energy, I think the DM are making ALOT of it up..however the photo is wrong x

ReindeerBollocks · 09/11/2011 23:25

I am a similar height to the lady in the article. I have never been eight stone except when pregnant. I also lose weight easily when really stressed and have been down to five stone, the weight that the lady now claims to be. Yet my menstrual cycle has never stopped.

When I was at my lowest weight, (I was eating btw) I may have been able to get into younger peoples clothes (to be fair her height is a factor in being able to get into girls clothes) but I didn't, i wore my normal clothes, even if they looked baggy. This is clearly a MH issues on the part of the mother and it's reflecting badly on how she feeds her daughter. She should be sensible about her daughters diet, not just letting her eat crap all the time - thats almost as bad as her telling her daughter not to eat.

Ineedabetter the child in the article is seven, not eleven or twelve.

I know she is 7, but she is as tall as a 10 or 11 year old
