to complain about a very minor flaw on a new chair

I ordered a new chair from Laura Ashley 2 months ago, it was one of their made to order upholstered chairs and even in the sale was very pricey but I loved it and bought it out of my bonus.

It was delivered today and on both front wooden feet (dark wood) is a very small chip where the dark lacquer on the top is chipped off so you can see a much lighter colour. When I say v small it is probably half a cm square area so we are talking v small.

I rang customer services to report this and they said they will send a technician out. I now feel a bit ridiculous but given the price of the chair do feel it should have been in absolute pristine condition on delivery. DH says I am being stupid and it is fine and the feet will get chipped but I just feel it should at least be perfect on day 1.

MrsTwinks · 09/11/2011 14:28

nope YANBU

Shutupanddrive · 09/11/2011 14:37

YANBU you paid for it and are disappointed

AurraSing · 09/11/2011 14:41

Yanbu. I've heard the LA costumer service is very good.

I love that they are sending out a technician. I hope they come wearing a lab coat and safety goggles.

CailinDana · 09/11/2011 14:44

YANBU at all, you paid a lot for it and you're right that it should be in pristine condition on day one.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 09/11/2011 14:46

YANBU because I would do the same! My DH would be in the same camp as yours making them both grossly U.

MamaLazarou · 09/11/2011 14:48

YANBU - if you've forked out loads for a luxury item, you want it to be perfect.

KurriKurri · 09/11/2011 15:10

YANBU, - if you'd wanted a chipped chair, you'd have bought a second hand one. If you don't get it sorted, it will annoy you every time you look at it.

FredFredGeorge · 09/11/2011 15:14

YANBU - I don't think I'd be prepared to have a technician come out - is it really repairable? I'd've thought just getting it collected would be appropriate.

YANBU

I too like new things to be exactly that and would do the same.

Mandy2003 · 09/11/2011 19:06

YANBU at those prices!

But I am wondering about this technician - I bet it's an old geezer in a brown overalls coat carrying a pot of paint and a small brush! Thus

ChasingSquirrels · 09/11/2011 19:08

I had similar with a new sofa from DFS, they sent a technician out - he coloured it in with a furniture stick!

NoSeriously · 09/11/2011 19:09

yanbu- you paid fora nice new chair. It's up to you and the kids to add your own dings etc.
