I've only ever dipped in and out of the x factor but this year does seem especially set up and done more and more for the ratings than any pretence of nurturing a new talent. Am deeply disappointed at M&S using them for their xmas ad (though I imagine they signed the contract ages ago and are equally disappointed with the current crop!) Makes the days of Gates and Young seem like a golden age
