To be so cross at my husband's work

Bearing in mind that his work have already notified that they are removing his pay raise that he got three years ago for additional duties, which of course they still want him to perform. Bastards.

So in six months time when this wage cut comes into effect, it will make it impossible for us to live and work, hence meaning DH has already told them he has to find an alternative job asap.

His boss pretty much said, good luck, we'll replace you then. We don't need you anyway.

So Why oh Why, has DH spent all bloody morning on the bloody phone trying to sort out major issue that no one else can deal with at work, whilst DH is meant to be on holiday.

Plus today is the only time all week when we are completely child free. I have called in several favours to give ourselves a nice day to ourselves, looks like it is going to be cancelled, grrrrr Angry

So tempted to grab the phone and shout, he is on holiday you selfish fuckers, you said you don't need him, so suck it up, deal with it yourself. Like you are going to HAVE to do when he shortly leaves.

AIBU to feel this way (even though I won't act on it)...fuckers.

Not unreasonable at all!! Pisses me off when my DH has to do this too, and he hasn't been treated badly by his work.

slavetofilofax · 08/11/2011 11:46

YANBU.

Go for the phone.

If your DH tell them you were hormonal and laughs a bit he might still get a decent reference.

Babieseverywhere · 08/11/2011 11:47

Screw it, just given him a five minute warning, we are going to go out. Fuck them, what are they going to do sack him ! I have done the figures we would be better off after the wage cut.

They don't give reference, just standard....
....John Smith, worked as X from date to date.

That should read we would be better off on the dole than we will be after the wage drop.

YADNBU- answermachine on " DH is currently on holiday and unavailable.....so fuck the fuck off, fuckers!"
Too harsh? Grin

Babieseverywhere · 08/11/2011 11:52

Like it Peanut ;)

DH is such a good man, works hard and always goes that extra mile. He doesn't want his co-workers to suffer, when he can sort it out. I am not as nice as him... seethe

My husband was on his redundancy notice when his boss called to see how things were going. I told him exactly how things were going, bearing in mind I'd also be made redundant, and we had a new baby. Grin
I wasn't rude though, and they gave him a new contract shortly afterwards.
Which is about to expire....... :(

Babieseverywhere · 08/11/2011 11:56

BaronessBomburst Hope the contract is renewed, soon.

We are going out now ! See you later :)

Stick this in employment issues. I would think that if he had had the money for 3 years, he could claim it was custom and practice to receive it? But there are some shit hot employment lawyers there who could give you much better advice.

TheTenantOfWildfellHall · 08/11/2011 13:58

OP, nothing to say that will be helpful to you, but to offer some moral support - DH has just been told by his LA employer that he is entering another redundancy process - his 3rd in 5 years by the same employer.

He and his colleagues were, understandably, a bit pissed off and, as they work in the LA and have access to all the details, decided to work out how much it would cost their employers to support them out of work than it would to pay them a salary in work and we would be £100 a month better off on benefits than we would with him working. Especially since the same LA has also made me redundant.

We wouldn't actually realise the £100 extra a month because the Local Housing Allowance we'd be entitled to is about £100 a month less than the rent, but we'd break even.

DH earns £33.5k. But with the amount he pays in his travel pass, tax, NI, student loan repayments he picks up the same as we would in benefits.
