...when all the Christmas stuff starts?

Was in town yesterday looking at all the lovely twinkly lights. And I've just seen Delia and Heston'e Waitrose ad.

I don't think I'll ever stop being 5 years old when it comes to Christmas.

StealthPenguin you flippin show off Grin

I love it once I know im going to be able to pay for it all.

StealthPenguin · 07/11/2011 01:42

Um... blush

Sorry for boasting again even though I'm kind of not because I rarely get to boast about anything, but I've had Christmas planned for a while...

We have a Post Office Christmas Card that we put money on, then at the beginning of November we check the balance and get stuff from it. I'm also on the lookout all year on eBay and Amazon, in charity shops and car boot sales... even in the Boxing Day Sales last year...

StealthPenguin · 07/11/2011 01:42

I'm kind of proud of that, but also a touch ashamed. I'm turning into my Nana!

LivingDead · 07/11/2011 02:28

I think YANBU, although it is so cynically early these days, I used to be the same, but tbh the worry over where the hell we will find the cash for presents is putting me on a massive downer this year.

For the first time ever for me the whole greedy, grabby want want want thing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I will still do my best for the Dc's, innocent as they are, but nah it's bollocks.

Stigmata · 07/11/2011 02:59

I too have not had a UK Christmas for almost 5 years, and we're coming back for the whole of December - LAAHH!

Even better, we will be borrowing a friend's proper victorian house for the crucial 4 days, and I will be in charge of EVERYTHING, and will be buying everything at Waitrose. Because i've the rest of my life to eat sodding bbq steaks and ham.

Also, now I have a 2 and 6 yr old it will be even more fabulous. and I'm slowly weaning off my anti-d's so that I can also have a helluva piss-up drink. See, I've thought of everything.

I love it, I love it, I love it!

I have just realized that no one in our town does caroling, so I put out the word on FB to see if anyone wants to do it with me! And I have responses!

YAAAAAAAAAYYY to Nativity sets and snow and stockings and caroling and reindeer and Santa and family and A Christmas Carol! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Unfortunately I cannot, cannot, cannot start putting up decorations til after Thanksgiving, which is on November 24th this year. Sigh.

YADNBU Another Christmas saddo here. Had a fabulous Christmas at the PILs a couple of years ago in the US. LOVED the way the Americans totally get into it with decorations all over the inside and outside of the house and neighbourhood competitions as to who has the best display on the front lawn.

StealthPenguin Be proud!

I used to be much more organised, one year I had it all bought and wrapped by this time too, it was such a nice feeling not to have to run round at the last minute.

In my defence I have DCs birthdays in the months before to pay for so that sets me back a bit.

At this time every year I say that I am going to put money aside for christas each month, but life takes over and I havent done that for years.

Deffo doing it for 2012 I hope
