AIBU to think that Kirstie's Homemade Tatt is a complete fix?

I know i'm a bit late with my rant about this, meant to post yesterday Blush. Anyhoo, there is no way that cushion was best in show! Was bad enough her cake won last time, but to get best cushion and best in show is just taking the pissShock. Don't know why I have continued to watch, this show makes me want to stick craft pins in my eyes Wink.

I'm not sure how they could fix the judging, its all anonymous although the judges must be aware that there's a reason for them being filmed while they judge.

If they knew it was Kirstie I'd think they'd be inclined to mark her down not up due to the help they must know she'd be getting.

harrietlichman · 04/11/2011 11:55

But to me that seems ok, if a person is learning in their own time and having help from experts to improve their skills in a particular field - it just seems that Kirstie has a whole wealth of experts in different fields to simply beat everyone in whatever competition she enters! Don't want to diss her too much though - I do like her, and think the programme is quite a good showcase for different crafts...

DuchessofMalfi · 04/11/2011 11:57

I'm probably the voice of dissent here, but I really like Kirstie's programme, and think it is inspiring other people to take up crafting. It has made me get on and start making the new cushion covers that we need :).

I do admit to feeling slightly uncomfortable at the professional help she's getting to help her with her show entries, but she is doing a lot of the work herself, especially this week with the cushion cover.

Duchess, I suspect quite a few of us like the programme. We're just trying to help Kirstie. It would be horrid if she became a bit smug. It's our job to make sure that does not happen.

shineynewthings · 04/11/2011 12:18

GrovelGrin Yes....we really must try to find a way to prevent her getting smug despite the fact that she lives a massive traditional cottage, comes from a wealthy well-connected family, has made tons of money from showing peole around houses and making cushions on TV... all with the help of the best crafting experts in the country... yes, I'm sure this thread will bring her down a peg or twoGrin

whathellcall · 04/11/2011 12:28

The smug ship has definitely sailed Grin.

Wonder if Kirstie's on MN and, if so, what her nickname might be :o?

LaurieFairyCake · 04/11/2011 12:34

I'd be as smug as a smugeroo if I was her.

Money - check, beautiful kids - check, attractive - check, nice voice - check, nice jewellery - check, good taste - check, talented - check

I was Envy Envy Envy Envy Envy at the 'shed' she works at in her garden in London.

She's a very lucky (and seems very nice Envy) lass.

I do sew, but tbh I was still shocked she won Best In Show! And a burnt cake? Really?

But I am enjoying it. I especially liked the sewn card, and it was a travesty it didn't win something just for being a bit out-of-the-box compared to the other entries.

PopcornMouse · 04/11/2011 14:43

And OMG was anyone else totally distracted the whole way through by her mahoosive knuckleduster? Couldn't take my eyes off it. Must weigh the same as a small child.

valiumredhead · 04/11/2011 14:56

I have a ring similar - I LOVE it!!!

She lost it last year, there was a website with a reward for anyone who found it, it must've worked!
