Get annoyed, be incensed, take any action you like.

But if you threaten to disembowel somebody, then you are definitely being unreasonable.

When was the last time you read of some annoying person being actually disembowelled by an equally annoyed partner? You haven't have you? Safe to say it doesn't happen - it's a figure of speech. Do we really want everything so bland? See for me

"I'm going to get jolly well ever so frightfully peeved at xxxxx-whatever" just isn't as good as the threat of ritual disembowelling. Maybe that's just me?

TheVermiciousKnid · 02/11/2011 14:44

Come on, you've got to make some allowances for age. Wink

cuttingpicassostoenails · 02/11/2011 14:44

Oh come on OP...a spot of ritual disembowelling never did anyone any harm.

MardyBra · 02/11/2011 14:44

MenopausalHaze I've just noticed there seems to be a trend in AIBU titles where violence is threatened. Yes, the disembowel one made me smile as, yes, it is a turn of phrase.

Of course, now I've started this thread I can't find any examples of the "Should I kick my DH in the balls because he doesn't take the rubbish out" variety.

Disclaimer: Sort of light-hearted pedanty thread.

I may have been one of the intended victims and I am not bothered. Some things are not meant literally. As e.g. if X doesn't like it he can go and fuck himself.

VajazzleMyFoof · 02/11/2011 14:46

Andrew are you a bloke or a woman in disguise?

TheVermiciousKnid · 02/11/2011 14:47

Wink at TheVermiciousKnid. If Shakespeare can make up lots of new words, so can I.

Vajazzle Last time I looked I was male.

MardyBra · 02/11/2011 14:48

TheVermiciousKnid is very long and difficult to type. How do you like to be abbreviated?

TVK?
Knid?
The?

OP posts:
MardyBra · 02/11/2011 14:49

I assumed the name "Andrew" was a clue.

TheVermiciousKnid · 02/11/2011 14:50

Well, maybe we should define 'pedanty' as being pedantic about the misuse of violent expressions. Or something like that.

Actually, I do agree with you to a point. It's not something that really bothers me, but I wouldn't use those expressions myself because I'm a very nice and peaceful Knid.

VajazzleMyFoof · 02/11/2011 14:51

Ha. I know MardyBra it seems so obvious now. I used to be on another site where their was a really filthy poster called Dave The Trucker, he was actually a woman. Grin

TheVermiciousKnid · 02/11/2011 14:51

I am not really fussy about how my name is abbreviated, MardiBra. Though 'The' might be a bit confusing. Grin

MardyBra · 02/11/2011 14:51

Pedantish?

MardyBra · 02/11/2011 14:53

Vajazzle (may I call you Vaj Blush ?) I suppose Norman The Foreman may be confusing things a bit.
