It was my 3rd and I have failed on stupid things right at the end of my test every time, I'm just Angry with myself and feel really thick. Sad

I passed almost 3 years ago at my fifth attempt. Just keep going, its the hardest thing I've ever done - including three children and various ailments. Put in for the test again - every time I failed I just applied right away again. I think 6 weeks elapsed from my first failed to eventually getting it. Ps I'm a fab driver but can't park for shit Grin

I had one where I failed so obviously early on (can't remember what on now) that I asked the driving tester if I could just give up and go ( we were near my home) - we sat for ages discussing it as he had to persuade me to carry on as apparently he wouldn't be insured to drive it. Another one I failed was becasue there was a sudden heavy rainstorm and I'd never driven that car in the rain before and couldn't find the rear windscreen wipers= tester said if I asked him where they were i would fail, if I tried to find them and got it wrong i would fail and if i drove without them i would fail - my instructor was really apologetic!

keep going for it - the one I past (and i won't say which number) was the one I was least bothered about- I was going on holiday the next day and had lots to do so was less tense

snoopdogg Grin Reminds me of one of my lessons when I first started them, I had a work blouse on and had been driving around for a while, we stopped at some lights and I looked down and my top 3 buttons had come undone with the seatbelt and my boob was poking out!! Shock good job I was wearing a bra, not sure if my instructor notced or not but he didn't seem to!

Don't worry, just have another go. I'm currently psyching myself up to take my fourth - yikes!!

YANBU, sucks when you fail.

I failed three times before passing. The first time I failed even before I left the test centre Blush

Keep going, you will get there.

RedHelenB · 02/11/2011 14:27

Took me years & too many tests but don't give up, you will pass!!!

mishymashy · 02/11/2011 14:38

I think the chocolate is a good thing. I will be stocking up on chocs myself for next month when i retake my test yet again.
Both of my DDs have been driving for ages with no problems so not quite sure whats wrong with me other than I cant multi task behind the wheel, or stop shaking in test conditions and have no sense of bloody direction{blush] Apart from that it should be a breezeGrin
Goodluck for your next attempt

valiumredhead · 02/11/2011 15:29

I had no idea you have to carry on of you fail early on in your test? Do they still do that?

NeedABrew · 02/11/2011 16:00

You'll get there. Took me five attempts, and by the fifth, I was no longer nervous, I breezed out of the house shouting to my housemate 'right, off to fail a driving test now, see you later', and that was the one I passed.

MackerelOfFact · 02/11/2011 16:13

YANBU at all. I've just restarted lessons about 4 years after failing my 3rd test. I can drive but those bastarding tests are the only problem! I failed for speeding in my last one. Blush

I'm secretly glad to have failed though as the thought of having to actually drive frightens the life out of me.

squinkydinkus · 02/11/2011 17:20

Mackereloffact I totally get that, although I am gutted I didn't pass today, if i ever do pass i still can't ever imagine actually driving around on my own and the thought of it is a bit terrifying, especially as i will have my ds's ith me. Confused

Snoopdogg made me think of this . Can you visualise yourself this cool when you're doing your test?

BornSicky · 02/11/2011 17:40

so sorry! it's pants isn't it?

I took five tests in all - failed one of those spectacularly for taking the wing mirror off a BMW.

I took a break from driving lessons in the end and went back to learning after a year or so. had a few lessons and then passed.

I just wasn't ready for it and was getting myself in a complete state everytime with the pressure on myself.

good luck and you will pass next time!

auntiepicklebottom2 · 02/11/2011 17:48

5th time for me :)

the examiner had to grab the wheel on one of those exams lol

Splinters · 02/11/2011 17:48

You poor poor squinkydinkus, the test situation is v hard, I found it extremely difficult to get over the nerves enough just to do simple things that I can normally do with no problem. I failed my first for following the bus I'd been waiting behind straight out onto a mini roundabout without looking for myself. I deservedly got honked at and failed, but that sinking feeling is like no other. Woke my husband up by bursting into tears in the middle of the night..

The only positive thing I can think of is that the (fecking expensive!) lessons I had afterwards, with a different instructor, really did make me a much better driver. But this is not much comfort if you know you can already do everything properly and it's just the test situation that screws you up. How soon can you get another test?

mamasmissionimpossible · 02/11/2011 17:52

Sorry you failed :( I hated taking my driving test, I was so bloody nervous. I passed on my 3rd attempt with the chief examiner. My legs were shaking I could hardly control the clutch! I hope you pass next time. Enjoy your chocolate.

Beaverfeaver · 02/11/2011 18:08

I failed approx 11 times. There was a few occaisions that I screamed at the tester.

Never want to go through that again.

Good luck for your next one
