to keep dd at nursery

DD goes to nursery 3 days a week. She is two and half years old and loves her nursery. She has lots of friends and the staff are lovely.

The only problem is that I no longer have a job and the nursery is more expensive than the local pre school. Also the days are a lot longer.

Are we mad to use our savings to keep her there. We have six months until we get vouchers.

It depends on how important it is to you that she stays there.

Is it worth it to you to spend your savings on it?

Surely the only people who can answer this are you and her dad.

if your DP is working, could you claim towards the help with childcare cost.

RedHelenB · 01/11/2011 18:58

Not if she's a SAHM she can't auntiepickle.

Could you cut down to 3 half sessions or two days until she gets funded?

benandhollyandgaston · 01/11/2011 18:59

For me, it would mainly depend on whether or not I was going back to work. Also, possibly whether the pre school was a feeder school for the school she will go to as, at least if there is upheaval it will help prepare her for her new school, so not a total downer.

YANBU but you could cut her time there? Maybe 2 days? Or even one full and a half?

OddBoots · 01/11/2011 19:00

That has to be your choice, it isn't really a case of being reasonable or unreasonable, you know your family and we don't.

Would it be possible to reduce the number of hours at the nursery to help?

slavetofilofax · 01/11/2011 19:00

Couldn't you reduce the hours that she is there?
