To think when kids come trick or treating

fluffythevampirestabber · 30/10/2011 09:11

And you offer them a bowl of sweets

And the kids are 12 - 14

They should know better than to take handfuls of the mini mars bars/skittles/starbursts?

This happened last night - GND and a bunch of her cronies (who I am pissed off with anyway so I am prepared to take it on the chin if IABU) came to the door twice trick or treating.

The first time, DD2 answered the door, and I stuck my head around just in time to see them taking handfuls.

The second time, I answered the door and very snippily said "one each girls"

I should add, we'd loads of other trick or treaters last night and none of the reset of them took fecking handfuls of stuff, but most of them were younger to be fair.

So, AIBU or a miserable old witch Wink

Why are they doing it before Monday anyway?

I wouldn 't even have opened the door....but then I will be doing that on the 31st as well.

fluffythevampirestabber · 30/10/2011 09:14

That thought did cross my mind MrsRD, but then I thought that was super-grumpy Grin

I make up little bags of stuff and they get given one each.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 30/10/2011 09:16

With gritted teeth I buy some choc for Halloween, but there is no way they are getting it on any other night than 31st October. And I reserve the right to not answer the door after a time where I consider it 'too late'.

Round here teenagers would prob want cash (no way!)

Sirzy · 30/10/2011 09:16

Give them the sweets you want them to have then rather than a choice!

But as its not Halloween yet you mad to have given anything!

fluffythevampirestabber · 30/10/2011 09:17

The little bags is a good idea.

I actually was getting pissed off last night because we have had night after night of fireworks and they were BANGING on the door (ie not ringing the bell) and it fucked me right off and was annoying the dog.

I may buy a ton of monkey nuts and offer them from tonight on Grin

I would have told them to go away and come back on Halloween

ajandjjmum · 30/10/2011 09:20

We close our gates.

When the DC were young we used to take them to half a dozen neighbours we knew, but DH always went round before to check it was ok, and also give them a treat to give Grin.

BlueCat2010 · 30/10/2011 09:23

I don't give out the sweets until 31st either, but when I do I gte annoyed with the vast handful thing. It's usually the kids who haven't even bothered to dress up too! [hangry]

fluffythevampirestabber · 30/10/2011 09:24

These lot were just in short skirts and loads of make up

Some of the younger ones had really really made an effort which was nice but these lot were just lame

YANBU its not Halloween yet, you should have told them that. I hand out the sweets myself so kids have a fair share.

notjustme · 30/10/2011 10:51

We only had one set yesterday, I could be heard to exclaim 'but it isn't even bloody halloween yet!!' as I grabbed the sweets but they were cute little boys with their dad in tow so I can forgive them. Unfortunately we get a lot of the teens who think that chucking on a poundland mask and making no other effort is an invitation to come and help themselves to a handful of sweets...when you couple that with three dogs who go mental when people knock at the door it means we usually turn off all the lights and pretend we're not in!!

No sweets available from this house until Halloween night itself. I will not be accepting trick or treaters any other time but Monday, and then once the sweets have gone, then that is it. And yes, they get one each.

And if not dressed up I will query them too!

HauntedHengshanRoad · 30/10/2011 11:42

manticlimactic · 30/10/2011 12:23

Twice? They came twice and you still gave them sweets the second time? I'd have told them to feck off!
I'm not getting any sweets in. I ignore the door.

SwearyMary · 30/10/2011 12:27

I never give them anything and don't answer the door, I hate Trick or Treat with a passion. Its fucking irritating. Bah Humbug.

fluffythevampirestabber · 30/10/2011 12:29

Suffice to say, tonight will be monkey nuts only Grin

OP posts:
northernrock · 30/10/2011 12:51

Offer them a bowl of sprouts.

MrsRetchingBloodAndGuts · 30/10/2011 12:56

I unplug my doorbell, put foam on my knocker, stay in, turn the telly up and ignore the dog if he tries to tell me someones outside [super grumpy emoticon]

I may even park my car around the corner so the kids from the street don't even think I'm in Grin

Seona1973 · 30/10/2011 13:19

I make up little bags using cheap value freezer bags and then each person gets a bag each. I wont be giving any out until tomorrow and luckily we havent had anyone at the door yet anyway.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 30/10/2011 13:29

I have eaten half the bag of sweets I bought for tomorrow..... aibu?

fluffythevampirestabber · 30/10/2011 14:20

Absolutely not! Grin

stepawayfromtheecclescakes · 30/10/2011 14:43

I ate all the sweets myself last year before halloween Blush so drew pumpkin faces on satsumas and gave them out instead.... very healthy Grin

aliceliddell · 30/10/2011 14:52

My friend gave out chocolate coated sprouts Grin
Trick or treat is basically demanding sweets with menaces. Bah, humbug.
