AIBU to do lighter life or something similar? I have name changed for this as I am so ashamed by how I have let myself get. I don't actually know how much I weigh now as I haven't weighed myself in so long but I would guess I probably need to loose around 10 stone if not more.

I have tried diets such as slimming world and weight watchers but the results just arn't quick enough and I fall back into the same bad habits.

Has anyone done lighter life before? How hard is it really? I've read all the forums etc and I am so close to signing up. Everyone has said to wait till after christmas as it will be too hard around christmas and I agree but part of me feels if I start now, by christmas I could be a stone or two lighter!

Almost all diet plans result in the successful dieter putting the weight back on plus more usually within 1-2 years. This is because they come off the "diet".

The only sensible thing i've seen about dieting is the Judith Beck book about Diet

She is an amazing CBT leader and talks very clearly about some of the skills that you need to use not only to lose weight but to keep it off
She doesn't tell you what to eat - she is happy that you follow any sensible weightloss plan..she teaches you how you became overweight and how to retrain your thinking

My mum is doing it now and some of it is difficult but she really is retraining her attitude to food and hunger/cravings. It's brilliant and I would highly highly recommend it.
I believe that this really will be my mum's last ever diet.

I posted earlier on the thread but thought I would let the poster know that I weighed at slimmingworld class and have lost 2 stone in 9 weeks!!! It does work!
