To be unhappy that Quantas have grounded all flights

which means that passengers all around the world are stuck, or that hard earned money for holidays that now will not happen.

I hate the fact that it is the general public, who have no control whatsover, are the victims.

My point is fly SIA if you want to reduce the chances of strike action affecting you.

Singapore will not allow passengers to be inconvenienced or for SIA or SG's reputation to be tarnished.

I am absolutely thrilled that the boss of Quantas has grounded the airline. The unions cannot hold companies to ransom. The company was loosing millions every week and needed to re-structure to ensure that the company continued employing 30,000 people rather the company fold and everybody loose their jobs.

I'm sorry but yet again we are forgetting the basics economics it takes for companies to keep doing business. And before any body screams, let the directors take a pay cut, does anyone really think that'll save them the millions they need.

And all passengers should have insurance, it's basic common sense to have insurance for flights and holidays these days!

I completely agree with you goodkate and the same should have happened at BA last year. At least the Qantas CEO has balls. Bloody Unions.

really, people are pleased they've grounded all their flights just to make a point and smash their unions?

i have no doubt that the unions are being very difficult, just as the ba unions annoyed the hell of me with their rolling strikes last time around.

but in grounding the airline completely, it's clear that qantas really don't give a flying fuck about their passengers. they just want the Australian government to sort out their problems for them by terminating all industrial action and they don't care who they inconvenience to do it. they're essentially holding the passengers, and to some extent, australia, hostage to do it.

goodkate, "it's just good sense to have insurance these days" it's not clear if insurance companies cover the airline voluntarily grounding itself, so don't get too self congratulatory just yet. just as it wasn't clear that insurance covered holiday companies or airlines going bust, refusing to fly through ash clouds, etc etc. yes, by all means have insurance, but the insurance companies will try to wriggle out of paying for anything out of the ordinary.

i won't be booking qantas.
