To use the kids as bedwarmers?

Now its cold we've had the kids in our bed after bathtime as its warmer than theirs. We've been leaving them in there and putting them to bed later so our bed is nice and warm when we go up. I feel a bit bad as their room and bed is well cold when we put them in later but I do throw another blanket on them and its nicer for us AIBU?

using them to get warm isn't the same as chimneys its not like I'm charging the next door neighbour foir a bed warming service. Hmm

They could sleep on the floor in front of the door, to block the draught...

wheat bags?

i suppose they'd eat less Grin

Put hot water bottles in their beds when you put the dc in yours.Remove hwb when you go to bed then you and dc have nice warm beds-sorted :)

tooearlymustdache · 29/10/2011 20:55

hot water bottle are dangerous aren't they?

i almost burnt my fanjo when one burst on me

PlayLaughGrow · 29/10/2011 21:03

I could get hot waterbottles I suppose, but they don't warm as much space as a child and they smell rubbery rather than of cherry shampoo.

YABU to use your dcs. I use my DH, after all his feet go further down the bed and I have VV cold feet :o

FlyingPirates · 29/10/2011 21:10

All jokes aside, I do think it is nice they are all snuggly and warm in your bed, but it does feel a bit mean to then put them in cold beds when yours is toasty. I second the water bottle idea. YOU like a warm bed to get into, so why wouldnt they? Doubly bad after being toasty all evening.

QuintessentialShadyHallows · 29/10/2011 21:10

Hotwater bottles for the childrens bed, so they get a snug warm bed? They dont need to sniff cherry shampoo, as they are already sleeping.

We do an "eachother-warming service" in the morning, which we all enjoy.

reelingintheyears · 29/10/2011 21:13

I think it's the OP who likes the smell of cherry shampoo.

does a line of cherry shampoo

Sneezes violently.

tooearlymustdache · 29/10/2011 21:15

you're blowing bubbles, reeling Grin

PlayLaughGrow · 29/10/2011 21:18

doesn't anyone else use nice shampoo on their kids so they can sniff them later? I tried the voseen nit repellant stuff for a while, but it made them smell like a mozzy repellent.

Anyuway your all probably right and Ill get some hot waterbottles for their beds. Not fancy ones though as then they'll probably want to sleep in their own bed which would just spoil it.

Depends how big the child is and their propensity to sleep "starfish" fashion.

If they are small compact and snuggly I see no reason to move them- toasty child =toasty mum- just make sure dad get nice cold kids bed by being " asleep" yourself when he appears LOL

THose who sleep (as my DS did from about 8 months) horizontally across the pillows with either a foot in your eye, or a tiny finger burrowing into your ear affectionately deserve to be assisted to their own bed asap!

KoPo · 29/10/2011 23:29

YABU to have not found a way of advising me to do this for the last few years.

Fucking genius! DD's will now be having a nice sleep in mummy and daddys bed at weekends before we go up :)
