Am still intrigued - what might the midwife have said. But more importantly, what did the baby do? Any guesses anyone? Grin

lol chocolate

i have been wondering too about that thread

my guess is newborn said "thank fuck thats all over" Grin

clappyhands · 28/10/2011 21:57

eglu it was a thread where someone said the midwife commented about how gifted or smart the new born was - apparantly mid wife just knew as soon as they seen said child

HowlingWereWolfBitch · 28/10/2011 21:58

YANBU.

Quidsi · 28/10/2011 21:59

I'm intrigued too. What does a newborn do that would amaze a midwife so much?

But then my baby delivered himself, cut his own unbilical cord and said hello in spanish and I didn't have a midwife, my 2year old was all I needed Grin

Would be interesting to hear from midwives what 'clever' or extraordinary things they have actually seen a newborn baby do?...or say Confused?!!

ScaredTEECat · 28/10/2011 22:12

My newborn son was so clever he peed on me.

True story.

HowlingWereWolfBitch · 28/10/2011 22:13

My DS sneezed FOUR times in a row as soon as he was born.

scrappydappydoo · 28/10/2011 22:17

Well my dd2 made it out all by herself with just me pushing!!!!
She is clearly gifted but as a result has made a pushy parent..

saintlyjimjams · 28/10/2011 22:22

I bet she just held her head up.

Ds3 was born supporting his head and looking around it looked so ODD Grin in a newborn

I reckon it was the opposable thumbs what impressed the midwife.

Perhaps the doting Mum's DD came out with UCAS points in her eyes penguin?

Currently pregnant with DC3 and am going to have to get this baby to do something mindblowingly clever on entry to the world!

Ooooo hassled, or maybe webbed toes? Or three nipples?

[don't want DC3 to have those though]!!!

Maybe 10/10 in apgar score. Ie, it knew how to breath. Grin

I'm a midwife and come out with all sorts when gushing over a newborn.

What clever things have I seen a newborn do...........

Mmmm shit, piss, cry, shit a bit more, sleep............

Seriously I should think it was a baby that looked round the room quite a bit. Some babies do this and do appear to be really taking it all in. Even though it's bollocks as they can't see further than 30cm.

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 28/10/2011 22:33

Arf! Viva some of these babies are just so clever!

ouryve · 28/10/2011 22:56

Maybe the baby peed her own name all over the wall.

Or came out with a mouth full of teeth, because we all know that babies born with teeth have superior clevers.
