ive posted on here before about my MIL making sarcastic comments about my weight

i dont see her often so i try not to think about it

twice in 1 week at work,2 customers have made comments about my weight, the 1st asked if i was expecting again, when i said no she prodded me in the stomach and said "well u should get rid of that !

the 2cnd comment was made today by another customer, she said "your an attractive girl but your not making the most of yourself coz of your weight "

im a size 16 and weigh around 13st 8lb

ive been in tears tonight when ive came home,my OH said why do i take notice of what people say? i cant help it though

he thinks IBU by letting it get to me what people say

i found the 1st comment most hurtful

those people are extremely rude and completely out of order. (sorry, i'm the same size as you and I can't imagine what would happen if someone did that to me!)

the first comment reminded me of my grandmother, who would absolutely not hesitate to do that. as much as i love her, she can be a right interfering cow, who to be fair, does respond well to "mind your own business, thanks very much."

i'd definitely remind them to mind their own business in the future.

next time say:

Well I might be fat, but I can diet, sadly there's no magic cure for your ugly mug though."

The people who made those comments are very rude. Try not to take it to heart (hard, I know). These people really have no right to make you feel bad about yourself.

Customers, you say? It's a pity they have got the idea in their heads that they can buy their self-esteem by belittling you (thinking you can't talk back).

Would it help to imagine them as a different sort of customer: masochists paying you to whack them upside the head and tell them they are rude and selfish and not worthy to lick your boots?! [hgrin]

Eddie Chapman said it upthread. Do you realise how rude you sound?

I get the opposite, as I'm skinny. I usually chuckle along, except once when the bloke ripping the piss wouldn't stop after he went too far. Honestly, he went on for about 10 minutes on the skinny jokes, so I went for him. I called him on his massive nose (it was huge) for a minute or so, then said "actually, I've decided your nose isn't massive, you just have a tiny head. So from now on I'm going to call you Little Head". He put down his unfinished pint and walked off. The people I was with said I'd gone too far. Yeah, Grin
