I've never had a PM here [hsad]

TBH, you can be so honest to other FMs on here that I've never felt the need to PM anyone. Maybe I should embrace the fun of random PMs....

CoteDAzur · 28/10/2011 22:11

YABU to start a thread about a PM. Surely, if there is one worse sin than starting a thread a about a thread, it is starting a thread about a PM.

PM = Private Messsage

CoteDAzur · 28/10/2011 22:12

Or Message, even.

banana87 · 28/10/2011 22:17

The only reason I posted about it was to see if other people had the same PM from the same OP. Seeing as how many many posters replied to her thread before it was pulled. And seeing how there is a thread about that thread in AIBU.

ice sometimes I have exchanged pms not because I can't be honest, but because sometimes I can't post openly without giving too much away iykwim.

For example, I work in mental health, and am honest about that. :) However I am less open about where and what type of team. But in the past I have exchanged pms with (for example) student nurses. I am happy to tell people on a one to one, but not on the whole internet.

On occasion I have sent people odd things (not strange things, but stuff like Mcdonalds toys that I have and don't want, and someone else's child doesn't have and does want) . I don't mind the whole web knowing this, but I do mind my address being open!

eaglewings · 28/10/2011 22:21

I didn't vote for a random PM. I demand a recount

Whatmeworry · 28/10/2011 22:22

Beartricks :o

oldraver · 28/10/2011 22:25

Toothbrush I had a pm once from someone who said they had found my post by Googling or something... I was a bit suspicious it may be a journolist as one had previously been sniffing around.

I wasn't brave enough to reply so just ingnored.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 28/10/2011 22:28

Given how little I actually post on here (rather than just lurk magnificently) I'm always a little surprised when I get random, badly disguised journo PMs. MNHQ are very good though and will go and spank the naughty so-and-sos soundly when I report them.

I think they enjoy it tbh.

onepiece - I did think about including some kind of caveat similar to what you've posted, but MN suddenly ground to a halt on me and I couldn't be bothered! Gahh, it's doing it again now!
I love the idea of you sending people 'odd' things - a laddered pair of tights, or or perhaps a blunt pencil with a post it attached, saying 'please sharpen and return'.

onepieceofcremeegg · 28/10/2011 22:37

lol at odd things! Grin

We could have a competition see who could send the oddest item.

On a more sensible note, I would like to stress that anything I have sent in the past has been with the agreement of the mner concerned and generally things that they/their children have wanted.

In turn I have received various items (not in direct exchange, just how the world of mnet goes round ime). I once had a second hand doidy cup (very welcome) and some pull ups that were surplus to requirements.

crazynannawitchbitch · 28/10/2011 22:42

Just checked if any of my PMs' are offensive...
Nope,both were quite nice [hwink]
