To really not want to get on and cook the dinner

That's it really. This heralds the start of 'witching hour' in our house. No rest until all three children are in bed.
Right, off to do it now.

Our witching hour starts at 4pm. I also hate this part of the evening when I know I have to get on and make dinner. I got around it by doing the main meal at lunch time so I can do quick dinner in the evening. My 2 are 1 & 2 yrs old though so I can do this.

They are having last nights left over spag Bol some freshly made pasta in a tomoto sauce. Blush

I know just how you feel. It's soooo boring. Hope you can have some wine and radio with it! Are your children old enough to help (and I mean help, not "help")?

Yourefired · 27/10/2011 17:06

Oh agree so CBA tonight. Have urge to call pizza elves but trying to save money. It's all such a yawn. I'd better go and boil something now and stop moaning.

I'm watching the pork chops spinning around in the microwave defrosting and just enlisted DS2 on potato peeling duties, I still haven't got the enthusiasm to get off MN my arse and cook.

urbanproserpine · 27/10/2011 17:17

mine are three, three and five, and I've already used up my good fairy reserves making gingerbread superheroes with them. Jiminy Cricket is on my shoulder urging me not to feed them the gingerbread....

No, YANBU.

I CBA, so DH has decided to do it.

Only because no-one will eat anything if he doesn't !

So glad I prepared the chilli at lunch time. Now I've only energy for laying the table and grating cheese. I might get himself to do when he gets home, using his fabby Kenwood grating attachment. And the child can deffo help lay the table. [hgrin]

YABU - that's life - try and enjoy what you have

lolaflores · 27/10/2011 17:42

Hate this time. sodding tired, spent the day doing dizzyingly fab things and now got to feed everyone. its in the oven. i could care less. food...meh. my little is not a great eater and dinner is always a bit of a palaver trying to get her to eat just a little bit more. fagged out to be honest.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/10/2011 17:44

oh Calabria, wish I'd decided to do that with our chilli. Still trying to get off my arse to do it. We had a late lunch so not even hunger is willing me to do it. But I like it to cook down for a while so I'd best be off.......

plupervert · 27/10/2011 21:27

Speaking of pizza, we keep pizza bases in the freezer, and put all the wrinkly vegetables and dry cheese on them at the end of the week. It sounds horrible, but actually tastes very nice, is not too much preparation (other than chopping and grating), and cooks in about 10 mins.

Any good as a standby?
