in the ( gasp) daily mail
"Linda, who is married with a 19-year-old daughter, Jess, says she still gets wolf whistles from men on building sites ? and loves it."

Funny how so many women find jeering and cat calling by men patronising nad sometimes even scary

Oooh, I haven't had a wolf-whistle for about 35 years. Pleeeease can I have one?

piprabbit · 27/10/2011 12:46

I'd assume that they were whistling cos they recognised her as that woman off TV. Not because they found her overwhelmingly gorgeous.
They probably shout stuff at male celeb-types too.

Yes of course the OP is jealous. She obviously would really really like a bunch of builders in a transit van to whistle at her and tell her she has got nice tits. Hmm

I have disliked Linda Barker since she was everywhere advertising ghastly lime green sofas etc.

What a bunch of sad desperados those women look. And who the fuck is Suzanne Dando?

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 12:49

Linda Barker has THE most annoying northern accent. It is like she has never ventured north of Brighton and is putting it on - sounds incredibly fake (or feeerk as she would pronounce it).

catgirl1976 · 27/10/2011 12:50

I do hate her voice. And furniture range.

squeakyfreakytoy · 27/10/2011 12:51

Former Olympic gymnast Suzanne Dando, 50

I remember her from the 80's. She was very well known then.

Slacking9to5 · 27/10/2011 12:59

Why are they sad desparados. older Hmm?

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 13:01

Nooooo, not because they are older, I am not that much of a cow. They just look like saddos trussed up like a christmas turkey blathering on for the Daily Mail - I would say the same about a 20 year old. What are they actually saying? Fuck all.

Eyelasher · 27/10/2011 13:02

really? i must say barker looks good in photos.
think old dandy looks bad

But, but you can't have been whistled at, Eylelasher! You're a dried-up old lesbian man-hater, remember?

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 13:11

lol at hot hatch.

Would you have told us if it was an old fart in a montego?

MrsKwooooHaHaHaAzii · 27/10/2011 13:16

I think she's an idiot for wanting to let us know that she's just so wonderfully sexy that she's still being wolf-whistled at. Yawn.

She's a successful business woman, why is she - and the paper - not focusing on that achievement rather than the fact that she's happy to be sexually harassed in the street? Bah!

nethunsreject · 27/10/2011 13:20

Yanbu.

I used to get whistled at all the time as a young gel and it was bloody horrible and embarassing.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 27/10/2011 13:20

Perhaps the builders are whistling in recognition of her success as a business women, but aren't able to articulate that from 30 feet up a scaffold?

Honestly, you're all very quick to judge.

blackoutthesun · 27/10/2011 13:23

who wants to be whistled at like a dog?

noddyholder · 27/10/2011 13:25

I can't believe you think linda barker looks good Shock. Saw dando in London quite recently but not dolled up and she looked very good Why do they always set the hair and do that dated make up once you hit 40? They look odd compared to my friends of this age. Why the funny dresses too they look ready for the oven

squeakyfreakytoy · 27/10/2011 13:26

I wouldnt consider a wolf whistle to be sexual harassment.

nethunsreject · 27/10/2011 13:27

squeaky - that's your opinion. I felt really intimidated by it as a self conscious young woman. It's really embarassing. Feeling like a bit of meat. Yuk.

squeakyfreakytoy · 27/10/2011 13:30

I know it is my opinion, that is why I put "I" at the beginning of it. :)

noddyholder · 27/10/2011 13:30

I would hate to be whistled at and cringe when I am. That horrible gut anticipation when you realise there is a building site ahead and you just 'know' whats coming. It should be bloody illegal

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 13:31

I hate being whistled at - there is bugger all you can do about it. You can't tell them to piss off as you would get a mouthful of abuse, you just have to pretend you haven't heard and walk alomg feeling like a prize twat.

lol at oven ready Grin

I agree re ghastly hair and make up. And why do women of a certain age in the mail HAVE to have some leopardskin on their person.

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 13:33

It is deeply frowned upon Noddy. DP is a builder and he sacked a labourer for wolf whistling, as if the building company recieves any complaint about street harrassment DP is at risk of losing his contract. It's a pretty new thing in the industry but is being taken seriously.

noddyholder · 27/10/2011 13:34

It is tragic that she even referred at being whistled at rather than saying how good it feels when her mates say she looks fab now that would make me feel good or the odd time my 17 yr old ds says I look 'alright' Grin
