to be inordinately chuffed

that DP's 4yo nephew says he wants to come and visit us again?

He's been twice now on his own, for 6 days in the summer holidays and DP has just taken him home after three days of half term.

We don't have children (we do have a cat and a rabbit, which are a major part of the attraction I think) so he gets full 1:1 attention, which isn't easy for single DSil as DNiece is 6 and has autism so needs a lot of looking after to keep her safe.

AIBU to be absolutely beaming because DP just text me to say DN wants to come again? [hgrin]

No you aren't pidj! I'd be chuffed too. Pre-kids I couldn't stand the little blighters and found them really hard work so I reckon you're doing well.

MaureenMLove · 26/10/2011 19:56

Aw, that's lovely. Smile You are top aunty!

ImperialBlether · 26/10/2011 19:56

How lovely for you and your partner, for your nephew and for your SIL, too. What did you do together?

YANBU, you sound like a top class aunty! You can have mine anytime btw, their own aunties are a bit slack in this department.

MrsSnaplegs · 26/10/2011 20:00

I'm sending mine round tomorrow ok?Grin

BOOareHaunting · 26/10/2011 20:05

And my DS Grin In fact Mrs Snaplegs and I are only down the motorway from you so close the curtains and BEWARE Grin

YANBU, it's lovely when children express their appreciation of things you've done/said. They can't dress things up at this age and say it how it is good or bad!.

Actually, this time I've done very little! I worked in my normal job Monday, started a new job Tuesday and got sent home after throwing up at the old job this morning. Last night I was in sole charge for the first time, so we did about a million paintings and drawings - all the downstairs doors had hangers on with paintings clipped to them to dry - then bath, story, bed at 8ish.

DP works from home anyway, so DN and DP have been "working" together, DN with some phonics stuff on a toy laptop and books, DP with his normal work stuff then they've gone to the park or the beach in DP's nice 2 hour lunch breaks Grin He's also had access to my lego police station, pirate island, hospital, farm and massive bucket of bricks from when I was about 8 - proper Big Boy toys.

In the summer, DP and I both took leave and we did beach, Owl Sanctuary, a theme park, swimming etc.

I quite like kids, have worked with them since I supplemented my student loan teaching music privately and am now a Youth Worker (part time). Also DP and I are planning a family in a few years so it's nice to see how that would potentially work out Wink DP had a hand in raising Big Nephew (18) with his brother, so he's a lot better at it than me with my NVQ3!

I'm still grinning [hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin]

Sounds great. I LOVE a walk in the New Forest when it's all cold and crispy and dare I say it -creepy. Grin Then a stop for hot chocolate/coffee and a HUGE piece of cake in the visitor centre. Grin

DS especially loves it when the mud freezes. Grin

BOOareHaunting · 26/10/2011 20:26

purplewerepidj · 26/10/2011 20:28
