It looks like they are not going to do their double points offer on clubcard vouchers this year.

I've been saving tokens ALL year. Feel so stupid that I was relying on this for Xmas.

You think they could have warned us though....
Grrr.

According to the website Corporate Watch tesco have got 3000 people on the Work Programme working in their stores. (people who are on JSA who have been told to do a work placement there as work for your dole or lose your benefit. So they are working for their JSA and not being paid a wage by tesco at all.
In light of this i would think its even more reason that they CAN afford the double clubcard points.

choccyp1g · 26/10/2011 15:56

Why were they asking if they already knew the answers?

woollyideas · 26/10/2011 16:00

Use Ocado! They price match with Tesco, have better quality food and often have 25% off offers for minimum spend of £40!

Tesco are land-grabbing wankers.

Lotkinsgonecurly · 26/10/2011 16:09

I really dislike Tesco's and have we haven't shopped there since Hugh Fearnley W's chicken programmes. I did succumb last Christmas and got and online delivery with them, however it didn't go through for some reason via the bank and I never got a confirmation email. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with them on top of the 30 minutes booking the shop. That was 2 hours of my life I will never get back and a no sodding delivery.

Hate them, hate them. Also I haven't got a clubcard refuse to have one.

I quite Lidl what you see is what you get, literally no frills. It really is much cheaper for lots of things. We normally use Sainsburys though as they deliver and apparently now bring it into your kitchen. Brilliant.

breadandbutterfly · 26/10/2011 20:27

I have now decided not to shop at Tesco except for specific very odd items i can only get there or way way cheaper than the competition for that specific item.

This is because of this:

]]

As someone who has often been a temp agency worker myself, I cannot believe that big organisations like Tesco are literally bullying poorly paid workers into renouncing their rights. Grr.

Anyway, have checked out Asda online and am feeling liberated and free :) from Tesco. Also have lovely £6 off £30 spend from Sainsbury's so am looking foward to saving some money.

Tesco's loss, my gain. :)

PicaK · 26/10/2011 21:58

I do use Ocado for my big weekly shop and heartily recommend them. I just use Tesco for the little odds and sods.

I never read any of the promotional bumf - I thought I was doing well just cutting out vouchers and putting them in my purse!

I was just planning to buy a lot of toys for Xmas about now (cos the last few years they have done one of the events where you Exchange your points for tokens in a certain area and yet again I haven't paid much attention to what it's specific name is.

I fear my brain cells are not what they were pre-DS!

Oi Pica - don't you come on here boasting about your Ocado deliveries, missus! The barstewards meanies don't deliver where we live now. Sad I have always done most of my shopping at Tesco, but used to treat myself to the occasional Ocado delivery, until we moved.

You have traumatised me all over again - how very dare you!

Can't help but :o at the thought of hundreds of MNers gathering at a tesco store and screaming.

I want to scream too. But for a different reason. I'm SICK of them shuffling the fruit and veg section around [hangry] I never find anything in the same place as it was last week.

I had a letter a couple of weeks ago telling me to watch out for the big voucher exchange before Christmas, but that the double points you earn would be finishing soon. I am hoping it will happen as I will try to get a few bits for christmas for the children.

Hungrydragon · 26/10/2011 23:38

double up your vouchers is advertised as coming soon scroll to bottom

DiscoDaisy · 26/10/2011 23:40

Our local Tesco is awful and expensive.
I drive past it to shop at Asda further down the road.

CardyMow · 26/10/2011 23:56

I have it on good authority that there will be a 'double up' for the clubcard vouchers you have already before Christmas. In November.

I know they have stopped doing their 2 points for £1 now - but are you surprised? How long could they have carried on running that alongside the double-up on clubcard vouchers for? Basically, customers were getting 4 points for every £1 they spent if they got 2 points for £1 and then doubled up their clubcard vouchers too.

No, I don't work for them, wouldn't want to, but come on, if they carried on helping the customers like this, they might not make another billion in profit...

CardyMow · 27/10/2011 00:05

I have £150 clubcard vouchers pinned to my fridge, and another £50 on my card. With double up on toys, that is £400 to spread over my 4 dc - so £100 each. Hardy hardy har Mr.Tesco. My dc get Christmas on you again this year.

And YES the prices HAVE gone up since they did the 'Big Price Drop'. They rely on no-one noticing. For example - before the Big Price Drop, packs of baby corn were 2 for £2.50. Each individual pack was £1.55. Now they are NOT on a twofer offer at all. The price is £1.36. So if you need two packs (we get through a lot of baby corn, ok!) you are NOW paying £2.72. Which is 22p MORE than you were paying before the big price drop bollocks.

Yes I am that sad that I notice these things. Why do the soulless cunts in Tescos Head Office think I am not able to NOTICE that my baby corn s costing me an extra 22p a week?

startail · 27/10/2011 00:06

Tescos may be dreadful, but at least I don't have to contend with women's bums hanging out of their jeans and Kamikaze toddlers throwing themselves under my trolly, such is the joy of ASDA.

FimBOOOOOO · 27/10/2011 00:11

Asda is the pits. I witnessed a near punch up a couple of months ago because someone went before someone else in the changing rooms.

BrawToken · 27/10/2011 00:11

Tesco are bastards and I would never shop there.

shugfish · 31/10/2011 14:36

Just spoke to Tesco about something completely different and the lady on the end of the phone said they are still doing the voucher exchange.
It starts tomorrow and can be used on toys!
She said it's double for every £5 voucher Grin

Ormirian · 31/10/2011 14:41

Nope. Please scream at them as much as you like.

I don't shop there. But I work for a supplier. Need I say more?

DejaWho · 31/10/2011 14:47

THey sent a mailing out ages ago saying they were stopping the double clubcard points and going back to things being the old levels. Hardly massively deceitful if they mailed everyone to tell 'em!

BellaBaloo · 31/10/2011 15:44

Looks like the voucher exchange is on again - there's a message on their website that it's starting tomorrow www.tesco.com/clubcard/clubcard/bigexchange.asp and one of my friends has already picked up a leaflet instore. Clothes and Toys are back in but no baby stuff this time :(

albertcamus · 31/10/2011 18:01

www.tescopoly.org

brilliant anti-Tesco website

Our small town has been ruined by a giant Tesco :(

We made a conscious decision one year ago to buy fruit, veg, dairy & flowers @ Lidl once a week & do a bulk shop @ Costco once a month

We now eat well on 50% of what we were wasting in the horrible place

The only items I buy there now are contact lens fluid and printer cartridges

I also love the Banksy anti-Tesco petrol bomb pic from which he donated the profits to pay for the legal fees of anti-Tesco protestors in Bristol

every little helps ...
