To think it's way too dark in Hollister?

Went in there today and came out laughing because it's so bloody dark. So were loads of other people. How can anyone see what they're looking at in there? I'm sure some of the stuff was nice but I just couldn't get a proper look at it. I nearly asked one assistant if I could take something outside just so that I could have a proper look at it!

I know there wasn't a power cut because there were some lights on. They have greeters on the door and I really think they should be handing out torches.

Am I just getting too old to "get it" these days...?

What's Hollister?

mumblechum1 · 25/10/2011 23:01

Teen shop.

FrightNight · 25/10/2011 23:02

YANBU it's totally bullshit.

FrightNight · 25/10/2011 23:02

Mind you at least you can't see the totally bullshit prices.

Bossybritches22 · 25/10/2011 23:02

Teen vair expensive shop.

Second cousin to Abercrombie & Ffitch

WitchesAreComing · 25/10/2011 23:03

Roll up to the counter and ask for a vodka and tonic. Your teens will flee out of sheer shame and you will save £££

Carrotsandcelery · 25/10/2011 23:04

You need to go there armed with a head torch, nose clips and ear plugs...and a handbag full of cash to burn Grin

ScatterChasse · 25/10/2011 23:06

YANBU, it's daft.

You (well I, at any rate) can't see any of the colours properly and spend the whole time suppressing the feeling somebody's going to jump out at me. Should be great for Hallowe'en though [hgrin]

Bossybritches22 · 25/10/2011 23:07

Love it witches

....and Carrots

Thank the F we live out in the sticks & my 2 DD's aren't brand aware that much!

Magneto · 25/10/2011 23:07

Oh it's a shop? I always thought it was a nightclub or restaurant and never went in.

TeapotsInJune · 25/10/2011 23:10

I went to the one in Bluewater thinking it was a restaurant! Grin I do have a nice cardi from there though :)

It also has a very distinctive scent.

AnyPhantomFucker · 25/10/2011 23:10

I fall down the steps at the entrance to that shop every single time dd(16) drags me in there

ridiculous place

the stuff is good quality though, washes well < old gimmer >

Andrewofgg · 26/10/2011 07:31

They and Abercrombie are crying out for a law imposing a maximum volume at any place of work (including pubs and clubs) and a minimum level of illumination. And to hell with their image.

bruffin · 26/10/2011 07:36

Couldn't even get into Hollister at Stratford Westfield yesterday, there was a huge queue just to get in! But then again I gave up on Primark as the queue for the till must have been a 100 people, it was all round the store both upstairs and downstairs.
Remind me never to try a new shopping centre in the middle of school holidays never, ever again.

Groovee · 26/10/2011 08:08

They opened one in Glasgow last week. I went past on Friday and they had 2 partially naked men who refused to let me in (because they were closed) and I threw a wobbler. Went back on Saturday with dh who asked them if it's dark so people don't see their prices. Did buy dd a nice bag for her christmas though.

josephinebonaparte · 26/10/2011 08:17

Hollister have a shitty record re disability discrimination as well.

SKYTVADDICT · 26/10/2011 08:25

I loathe Hollister. Too dark, too noisy and too expensive Grin but then again I am old! DDs 15 and 11 love it. Luckily our nearest one is Sheffield about 1.5 hours away so we don't have to go that often. I put a stop to internet ordering too as if I remember correctly p&p was £20!!

SKYTVADDICT · 26/10/2011 08:28

Actually just looked again and p&p is £10 but £20 for next day which is what I think DD1 paid Shock

Josephine: not heard about Hollister's, but Abercrombie do too. A person with one arm was told they would have to work out the back so customers couldnt see them.

EricNorthmansMistress · 26/10/2011 08:35

YANBU. I went there with a teenager for the first time to spend her birthday money. Thankfully she knows the value of money and was PHSL as much as me at the prices. Then she hit her shin on a shin level shelf so we went to New Look. Wankers.

Fuzzled · 26/10/2011 16:40

The one in our nice new-ish disability friendly shopping centre is not only dark, but they've put in steps at the entrance, and made the doors very narrow so my friend who was on crutches really struggled to get in.

Upon mentioning this to the young assistant, we got a blank look and a "but it's meant to be like that" explanation!

We left - we have not returned. Angry

Andrewofgg · 26/10/2011 16:47

Fuzzled your friend should sue. Not just Hollisters; the owners of the shopping centre. Beyond disgusting.

And I look forward to seeing a whole series of personal injury claims for damaged eyesight and hearing from Hollister and Aberscumbie staff a few years down the road. At which point maybe their insurers will lean on them to get their act together.

manicinsomniac · 26/10/2011 16:54

YANBU

It's SO annoying!

My daughters are too young for holister yet but it's one of MY favourite shops! Just hate having to go in there.

Bakelitebelle · 26/10/2011 16:59

ha ha. I plucked up the courage to go in last week for the first time. Couldn't see anything, so I left. Pleasant young man on the door said thank you and goodbye which was nice.
