To be proud that DS1 has learnt to make a water bomb from paper?

Grin

He is using origami of course. It takes a while to get it right. But he folds and folds and folds and tucks. And folds and tucks some more. Then he blows it up, and fills it with water, and throws.

Wuuuheii!

Oooh! I've forgotten how to make those! What fun!

Not sure you'll agree when you're mopping up water from the floor, the walls, the ceiling, the cat... :o

MrBloomsNursery · 23/10/2011 22:21

No...learning how to make those bombs are hard. My Dad taught me when I was around the same age; didn't master them until I was about 13-14 though. I still forget how to do the first fold - it's the most important!!

SecretNutellaFix · 23/10/2011 22:21

I could never quite get the folds right and mine would leak.

gushofbloodtothefloor · 23/10/2011 22:21

FAB! We used to love making those as kids. I vaguely remember heating water in some too - involved thick shiny paper and a baking tray on the hob Shock. I'm sure we were supervised...Wink

Ah brilliant, new indoors stuff to do over half term, thanks for sharing :)

FlyingPirates · 23/10/2011 23:13

Thank you!

QuintessentialShadyHallows · 23/10/2011 23:14

It takes a while! It will keep them busy! Grin

We used to climb on the kitchen roof and throw them at the dog. The kids of today just don't know how to have fun.

colken · 24/10/2011 07:42

I've just watched that video. Now I know what to get a 6 year old for his birthday! A book on origami. He'll love the paper bomb - and, because I know his father, I can tell you now that he will help his son!

colken · 24/10/2011 07:42

So thank you for the idea.

Andrewofgg · 24/10/2011 13:27

The fun and the pride will wear off. Believe me. I know.

QuintessentialShadyHallows · 24/10/2011 17:53

Andrew, lol, isn't that the case with most things achieved?

OP posts:
Andrewofgg · 24/10/2011 21:10

Yes Quint but I meant the OP's pride! Water bombs don't stay amusing.

QuintessentialShadyHallows · 24/10/2011 21:43

So? I am the op. Of course my pride in this achievement will wear off. Waterballoons, even those made of paper, are not fun for very long, as is the case with jokes, etc. It goes without saying. Smile

I teach my Cubs every year at Group Camp and we end the Sunday having an all out water battle! Much easier to clean up than silly little plastic balloons! I have managed to boil an egg in one over an open fire, too. Only done once, never to be repeated! :o

TunaTiebacks · 25/10/2011 00:18

I made 6 of them earlier after reading this! (no water though, as DS asleep and I'm here on my own, would bs the worst water fight ever) It was good fun, and has inspired me to try more origami! So thank you very much OP!
