Because it's all the rage round these parts.

Firstly park your car on a busy main road. One with a speed limit of around 40mph+ should suffice.

Secondly ensure your car is a BMW or Porsche 4x4 for maximum style points.

Thirdly. Open the back door (the one that opens into the road naturally) to its maximum stick your arse in the air and slowly remove/load baby and car seat into the back seat whilst you leave the pushchair/pram in the middle of the road. Preferably with a child still in it.

Brilliant idea isn't it and I cannot for one moment think why AIBU :o

Oh yes & of course this can also all take place outside school opposite those darling yellow ziggy-zaggy lines designed to stop plebs parking right outside the school gate.

Because OPPOSITE the school gate but as close as possible, is TOTALLY different.....it's so PFB me & my lazyarse friends don't have to walk so far whilst chatting.

The yellow zigzag lines mean CHELSEA TRACTORS PARK HERE, don't they?

Bossybritches22 · 22/10/2011 17:41

andrewofgg Absolutely dahling!

in this highway code for big cars, does it also have a clause which allows you to use 2 spaces in supermarket car parks cos obviously they have a big car so deserve more spaces despite the car park being full.

Tanith · 22/10/2011 22:03

Double yellow lines are so common.

Only double red will do for the real trend-setter.

CocoPopsAddict · 22/10/2011 22:39

And of course you can ignore yellow grids with a big shiny car.

Like the stupid Mercedes van who undertook me today using the bus lane, sped through a light just as it was turning red, and ended up stuck in the yellow grid.

Andrewofgg · 23/10/2011 08:33

Yes Tanith but you know, sometimes when you want to park those beastly councils or whatever they are haven't put down any red lines and you just have to make do with the yellow ones, I think we should always complain because if people like us don't nothing ever gets done, isn't that right?

There's an amusing little variation to be employed in car parks as well.

Return to car parking space. Observe driver of inferior vehicle in space next to you climb into their car and prepare to leave. Open rear passenger door of your own far superior vehicle to widest extent (thereby preventing other driver from leaving space as their wing mirror would clip your door). Remove child from pram. Park pram at end of other driver's car, to doubly ensure they cannot leave. Slwoly insert child into child seat. Sing child song. Give child toy. Talk in stupid voice to child. Leave door open while you slowly return to pram. Put pram in oversized boot. Return to child and repeat previous actions. Finally shut door and get in your car. Spend half an hour reversing car out of space.

Sometimes the driver of the inferior vehicle will have the effrontery to request that you allow them to leave their space before you begin the above process. Do Not Engage. They are being upstarts and should Learn Their Place. If you have to respond (possibly fearing the dangerous glint in Inferior Driver's Eye) bleat that you will only be a minute. Then proceed as above.
