To have politely refused to give my post code to Pumpkin Patch today?

Every time I make a purchase in Pumpkin Patch they ask me for my post code. It's taken until today for me to question why they do this. The cashier said that they have to take it for all transactions. She then asked me for my post code and I said "I think I'll refrain from giving it to you" she looked at me as if I was mad!

But she was able to put it through without my postcode.

So... Friends, comrades and fellow shoppers join me in my revolution! We must try to stop Retailers from brainwashing us into handing over our personal information!

They do this in The White Company. I refuse to give it now. They said it was for mailing list and marketing, and I'm already on the former.

Ah, a zombie thread.

LyleandLiam

This isn't a thread to congratulate companies on their sales techniques, or good customer service, it's about how they lie to you to gain information which they then use to their financial advantage.

Nice first post on MN btw.

Never bumped by someone with a complaint are they? Grin

Do you perhaps work for Pumpkin Patch Lyle? This is an old thread just to stumble across. Hmm

Hi ladies,

No, I'm just new to the site and wanted to leave a review on a store I have always like to shop with.

In my eyes you don't have to work somewhere to leave them a positive review. Before my pregnancy I was HoD at a large International airline. It has always annoyed me how people tend to want to frighten everyone in the world from using a service or product if an error occurred or they couldn't get their (often wicked) way. Consumers can be bullies and I personally don't need a company to tell me they are collating info for marketing for me to realise that they're not planning to send me a bunch of flowers!

For the same reason I refuse to use club cards etc., which many of my friends seem to think are fantastic and some even believe that the businesses just want to reward them! They're businesses :-)

Anyhow, thanks TapirBackRider :-)
