We didn't manage to go on hols this summer. I would like to take kids to see 'Wicked' in halfterm. Of course I'd love the best seats but on ticketmaster they are £92.50 EACH! Mentioned this to hubby and now he doesn't want to go at all and its too expensive, even the cheaper ones at £62.50. Argh. Does any one have any tips on how to get cheaper but good view tickets. Nothing on ebay. Don't know if dare risk it on the day as we are comin down from the Midlands.

Scholes - I really don't want to spend that much on a show but it seems I have some work to do to get my husband even to pay for any tickets at all. He worked out how many days I would have to work in my part-time job to pay for a seat [handrey] Thanks for the link. I am hovering round the £30 mark and hoping for the best. Thought I might be able to persuade him, if all else fails, with Mamma Mia as he liked the blonde one [hgrin]. Shame hairspray isn't on anymore.

Have just checked last minute. Too late for half term but if you book in advance for the Xmas hols there are tickets from £22.50. Less than the cost of one ticket for all of you.

of course meant [hangry] rather than [handgry] [hblush]

Don't have any tips for cheap seats but Wicked is "wicked". My DD (7) loved it and we have had to listen to the soundtrack in the car since April.

Thanks for everyones help. Now off to work for a late shift. Might manage to work enough hours today for half a ticket....[hgrin]

Theatremonkey.com is the BEST for deciding where to sit. I'd be going to the Wizard of Oz or Shrek given half a chance!

HellonHeels · 21/10/2011 15:09

I loathed Wicked! The sound was also terrible at the performance we went to - over-amplified and the high notes were so screechy and loud it hurt. Would never recommend it.

The worst show I ever saw was Phantom - dear Lord it was dire...

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 21/10/2011 15:53

I fell asleep during Phantom. Blush

valiumredhead · 21/10/2011 15:54

I wish I had! Grin

I've seen an amazing Phantom and a dire one. I was miffed as I'd taken DH and really wanted him to enjoy it. The guy playing the phantom was rubbish. Nigh on "spoke" every song a lá Rex Harrison. Awful awful awful. Think a lot depends on who's playing the role on the day.

Now Alfie Boe----swoon!

WillbeanChariot · 21/10/2011 15:56

If you can go on 8th November they are doing a charity showing for Bliss, tickets are £30. Check out bliss.org.uk.

I loved Wicked, and so did DH who was not convinced beforehand!

LaurieFairyCake · 21/10/2011 16:07

I've seen everything and Wicked is the best show. The acting by the 2 female leads is brilliant.

I saw the Wizard of Oz in preview and it was dreadful - exactly the same as the film so incredibly boring. At least Wicked is original.

montymum · 21/10/2011 16:08

I love wicked. What I did was go to the screen where the seating plan is on display, clicked on the £62.50 seats and then kept moving along the row until i came to the cheaper tickets. I paid £27 had a great view and sat very smuggly knowing the person in the seat next to me had paid more than twice the price!

Angel786 · 21/10/2011 16:10

Got cheap tix on lastminute a long time ago but did not enjoy wicked.

Mrsrobertduvall · 21/10/2011 16:32

Shrek is painful, apart from Lord Farqarr.
Donkey needs shooting.

MackerelOfFact · 21/10/2011 16:44

I quite liked Wicked, but it was loooong.

If you travel by train, your ticket can also get you 2for1 entry into loads of shows and attractions. Might be something that takes your fancy?
