to slap the Tesco man around the head with a pack of Donuts because he was a git and has upset me?

DD (13, AS) went on an expedition to Tesco yesterday to get me some shopping.

She noticed on the bus on the way back her reciept was wrong and instead of charging her 50p for a pack of donuts it had charged her £3 for a body spray.

I've just been back to deal with it and the bloody smug manager type didn't believe me. He didn't believe that DD hadn't scanned a body spray and insinuated that she had lied about it to me.

DD doesn't do lying.

And if she had thought about doing a swapsy thing at the self-scanning thing why would she do it for a measly body spray? why not a bottle of vodka?

Anyway she didn't and wouldn't.

So after quibbling about it he went off to find a £3 body spray to prove his point but came back to say 'oh that's odd, we don't have any body sprays for £3'. He still insisted that DD was at fault, but begrudgingly refunded her £3

It was a Big Deal for her to go on the bus and get a list of shopping. The donuts were a reward for going.

Git has upset me.

Thank you for recalling that 'incident' Katie.

Karma. Obviously.

Tell her to go to Morrisons next time - their donuts are much nicer Grin

Well done DD though, that's a big step for her (for most of the NT kids on here even!).

A lot of people have a horrible attitude to teenagers :(

brainwashed · 20/10/2011 15:12

He may have been doing his job but how sad that the default postion is "teenagers lie". There are some great teens out there thatmust get fed up of hearing how awful they all are all the time.

bigbluebus · 20/10/2011 15:33

Have visited 2 different Tesco stores today and bought an item of children's clothing at each one. In both cases, the prices that came up on the till when scanned was more than the price on both labels on the garment. Neither item was a reduced sale item. The assistants noticed on both occassions and charged the lower prices - but how many times will these items go through other tills at the higher price. In neither case did the assisstant make a note to pass on to a supervisor to get the price changed in the system!!!!! No wonder they make billions.

Dawndonna · 20/10/2011 15:43

Minimiss
OP stated that dd has AS. It's much harder for AS children to lie, and if they don't do it, they don't do it. I have 3 teenagers with AS. They are renowned for telling the truth and for being polite. Perhaps you need to loosen those judgy pants a little, they're obviously hurting your arse!

KatieMortician · 20/10/2011 16:30

Moo.

wigglybeezer · 20/10/2011 16:36

I have been in a similar position re someone not believing that DS2 never lies, I could tell he thought i was naive. Parents of normal, more devious children just don't believe you! Still annoyed about it when I think about it years later, luckily DS2 was oblivious.

chicletteeth · 20/10/2011 17:14

Report the cunt.
He has a boss too and if you explain the situation to his superiors, they will not be happy.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 20/10/2011 17:17

dawndonna the OP hasn't said she even told the manager her daughter is AS.

Also, even if she had told him, he's a tesco manager, not a medical professional, he won't know the ins and outs of the condition. Yes, it's sad that retailers have to assume someone is lying but if you saw the amount of stock the average store loses on a weekly basis to shoplifters, and bear in mind that this manager will have to answer to those above him about those losses, it's easy to see why he was initially quite cynical.

But yes, by all means OP, report him to his superiors. I can assure you NOTHING further will come of it for him and he will be advised to continue to treat potential shoplifters with suspicion.

Dawndonna · 20/10/2011 17:21

Yes Pom, I can see your point, but it was the bit about 'anyone who thinks their child never lies is kidding themselves' that got to me.
Some of us do know better.
Having said that, I'm a bit 'high horse' on this sort of thing!
[hsmile]

worraliberty · 20/10/2011 17:28

Actually anyone who thinks their child never lies is kidding themselves.

But that aside, the Manager was just doing his job and had she tried to sneak herself a body spray, I'm sure she wouldn't have been the first 13yr old to try it.

Having said that, it seems he was in the wrong so should have apologised unreservedly.

Dalrymps · 20/10/2011 17:29

I am not exaggerating when I say that 90% of the time I shop at Tesco I get over charged for something. This always means I have to go and wait at customer services with two impatient children. I then usually have to follow a member of staff and show them where said item is (shouldn't they already know that??) and then wait for some kind of manager to ok my refund. Then we usually have to point out their double the difference rule as they never offer it and they always pretend it doesn't apply to being over charged but to being double scannedHmm we then have to point to the sign stating said policy and get our double the difference refund.

It's such a faff that I've actually stopped doing my weekly shop there and only pop in for milk or late night chocolate.

I actually wonder how much money they make every day from people who are too busy to check their receipts or too busy to wait for their silly gagging about to get a refundAngry

Dalrymps · 20/10/2011 17:35

Gagging?!Grin I meant faffing

ScaredKittyWitchyKitty · 20/10/2011 17:46

What's this double the difference thing? I was overcharged in Tesco a few weeks ago when buying some tissues. I scanned them at the self service till and they came up at £2.00 when they should have been £1.96. I got my 4p back, but should I have got a whopping 8p? If so I've been ripped off Grin.
